Okay, so I made a couple of oopsies here: 1. The Egg Reverie code that enables the super flight does in fact work with Tails and Knuckles. I was under the impression it didn’t because when I first tested it with Tails, he just did his typical helicopter flight. I suppose I forgot to input the proper codes when testing, so my bad. As such, disregard the text box seen at 3:18. 2. You may have noticed from the sound test codes that many of them are Easter Eggs, like birthdays or release dates. For the banana code, I assumed it fell under the latter category, but it turns out it’s actually a birthdate, although it *is* true that SEGA owns Super Monkey Ball so at least I got that part right. Sorry for any confusion. I assure you that it isn’t intentional.

Here's one that is most _definitely_ an Easter egg, and probably explains why they grabbed *Christian* Whitehead for this: The code for "all emeralds" (04, 01, 02, 06) vs. Genesis 41:26 in the Bible: "The seven good cows are seven years, and the seven good heads of grain are seven years; it is one and the same dream."

I really hope there’s another update that adds these as standard options. We shouldn’t have to go into the sound test and memorize codes just to use the peelout in Sonic 3

Finally we can use the All Emeralds and Egg Reverie Super Form flight codes to sorta legitimately get Knuckles into the Sonic paths of levels during a run!

I figured since both Tails and Knuckles have double jump abilities already (flying and gliding), neither of them would have the Egg Reverie ability. Are you *sure* it works with Knuckles?

That zero mode at the end looks like a fun challenge, probably gonna try that over all of the other cheats. Should've included it as a legit mode.

The 0x8 cheat is my favorite code. Made it to Hydrocity Zone before game over (going full classic for the greatest challenge) making another attempt soon.

That's cool. I have a feeling they were supposed to be in the game all along and not "disabled", but Sega messed something up again when they packaged Headcannon's game into their compilation, so they were disabled. I'm glad that they got put back in, though...possibly even due to CodenameGamma's previous video about it...

I've never really cared for the Sonic 3 invincibility theme song. I thought they should have used the same one from Sonic 2 so being able to disable it is good to know!

The disable super theme code doesn't work properly (or atleast not yet), at first it does what it's supposed to but when you get to something that changes the music & then changes it back to normal (exept for after the lastboss fight of the actbecause you revert to base form anyway) so something like the The first 2 mecha sonic MK.2 fights in sky sanctuary or in most places where knuckles shows up, if that moment happened as super or hyper sonic the music won't be back to the stage music, instead it plays the super music despite it being disabled, so this can happen in angel island act 1 (if you start with all emeralds), hydrocity act 2 (either as when tails is involved or if you start with all emeralds), marble garden act 2 (twice), carnaval night act 2 (twice), launch base act 1 & 2, mushroom hill act 1 & 2 (both if using debug mode) flying battery act 2, lava reef act 2, & sky sanctuary (twice), that is 14× this can happen while having 22 normal acts & without counting when you start the game with all emeralds or debug mode it's still 11× out of 22 acts so even without counting the start with all emeralds requirement or debug mode it essentially still happens for exactly half of the game

1 trick i have to keep the turn off super music code in mind is that it's litherally just the code to just get the chaos emeralds right away, but backwards

I played through the whole game with that code on Thankfully you can input the code in Sound Test, press Start to return to the title screen, load your save file and it'll still work (most of the other codes don't work when you load a save)

Fun fact: the disabled super sonic theme code is basically the backwards version of the obtainable chaos/super emeralds code.

im still playing sonic AIR atm with mania animation mod. i will buy sonic origins when it gets little cheaper. but glad there are improvements & patches. GG

Yes, I forgot to mention that Knuckles gets his abilities back with the Competition Mode code. Although considering it's described as "Normal Gameplay in Competition Mode," I doubt it's difficult to connect the dots.

The code for the bananas is actually a date right in-between the US and EU release dates of Super Monkey Ball

Kinda wish more of these sorts of code were in Sonic 1 and 2. Like just imagine max control sonic in sonic 1

I hope if another patch comes out it updates the other games too

I don't think it will when it comes to the codes, since the only reason 3&K got the Mania codes was because the game was built on the Mania engine, whereas the other games aren't.

5:11 should've been turned on in vanilla origins s3k by default, considering the locked camera is the way it was in the original sonic games on the megadrive, and it would fix much of the jank and issues people had with the camera.

Uhhh... I'm pretty sure the original games on the Mega Drive also had limited camera movement speed. (Due to hardware limitations, the screen can only scroll at a maximum speed of 16 pixels per frame. That's why the camera "slows down" when Sonic is moving faster than that limit.)

Yep it definitely happened in at least Sonic 2 and 3&K on Genesis model 2 hw back in the day. Chemical Plant and Hydrocity/Marble Garden would always lose camera tracking at points

3:22 i thi k i've seen someone use that with tails before so that MIGHT be wrong, but it might also not be because it was... it was a lot but not just a new feature lot, but more of a "use unused feature" type of mod (& knuckles mode is still unused)

beating sonic 3 and knuckles without all of literally the core stuff in a mainline sonic game would probably be the equivalent to the infamous mario maniac challenge (which if you haven't heard you have to beat super mario the lost levels without using a warp pipe and then beat world 9)

Is the banana code the release date for Super Monkey Ball? Many of these look like dates, same as the debug mode.

Yes! A good number of these codes is inspired by the release dates of various games. An example is the Blue Shield code, which uses Sonic 1’s release date. I contemplated addressing that in this video, but decided to keep the focus on what people are here for: how to use these codes and what they do.

The banana cheat-code ((in sound test) is a reference to TheStoneBanana's birthday.

Well... the collection STILL have issues, No. 1... you can crash the collection in Sonic 1 if you use Sonic + Tails mode in stage select (00 character option) while having the 7th emerald activated and getting the OG last one (the 6th)... even the PC version isn't safe of that (and to be honest I may got very lucky with my Sonic 1 Mirror Mode playthrough as I literally did it on Sonic + Tails mode and even on it's initial 1.0 release had that issue) and No. 2... use the Sonic 3 branding cheat code and enter either during RNG gameplay or in the stage select screen the slot machine bonus stage, by doing just that you crash the collection (again... on ALL platforms).

I feel like the pinquinators only code references a date (march 6th 1999) but what does it reference?

I know the banana onoy is more of a joke & i have fun purposely launching myself, but there is also a challenge difficulty in it that is harder then playing normally but still easy then the last code because you still have rings, special stage rings & super special stage rings, but no shield at all, no super rings (10 rings at once) no invincibility, no speed shoes & no extra coin / life EDIT: you apparently can have a all of these items exept invincibility & speed shoes when this code is used, but only through bonus stages

It is. I COMPLETELY forgot about that because other than when I was a kid, I never really messed with the competition mode like that. Same with debug actually, which is why I sometimes forget it exists.

No, I don't believe so. Those codes require the sound test to activate, and whenever you return to the title screen after picking a level from level select, you have to go back to the sound test to turn the codes back on.

If only. Sadly, I’d imagine the devs had to fight against SEGA to get this patch through, considering how rarely they seem to let patches or content additions happen for smaller titles. I mean, look at TSR.

It's specifically stated in the patch notes that features were added to the sound test in *Sonic 3 and Knuckles* so sadly I don't think it works in any of the other games. But I've been wrong before. It wouldn't be as necessary anyway, because at least you won't be treated to those awful remixes in Sonic 1 or 2.
