Dont listen to anyone complaining or saying tools are cheap and just get one. I personally have a full set of bike tools and I still think this is a great little hack for an emg situation or if your local shops are closed or on low stock from covid :)

Nice tip. A leather gardening glove is perfect for holding the cassette if you have one.

First of all, they are not stars they are cogs. Second, you can get a cheap cassette tool for like 2 bucks so there’s no need to do this unless it’s an emergency

Its defintely a cassette hes taking off here the free hub is the thing the cassette mounts to. On some older bikes they are freewheels. You will really only find a freewheel on older or very low end stuff these days. Most stuff above bottom level has moved to freehub and cassette set up.
