Thank you very much. You saved my bacon for the time being. I installed a new storm door (without checking any knob clearances). We enjoyed having the door open and the sun shining in. When it began to get dark outside, you guessed it, the house door wouldn't close enough to latch. Well I wasn't going to rebuild any doors at night. So I tried removing the old 60's era door knob without any luck. I turned to KZread and with some searching, found your video. At least the door is shut and deadbolted.

I realize that this is 4 years old but THANK YOU. All I could find was how to remove a handle with an indentation. None except yours, was without. Actually I was doing the right thing I just didnt know to go ahead and pull the knob out. Thank you very much!! Suzie Grusendorf

Thank you. Just replaced a Kwikset interior doorknob that had this exact mechanism. Did just the trick in getting the old knob off.

Thank you for the hint - saved me over $75. It was still on the door. Used hedge clippers to cut the lip and pulled it back to expose the - in my knobs case - the screws (2 ea).

Thanks. I spent an hour looking for the release on one of these. Other videos I came across just mentioned the visible release lever, but since there wasn't one, I was stumped. Once I knew the secret, it was easy to remove the knob.

The exterior door handle had a tab that I battled and finally got the handle off, but no way to release the inner handle. Your video helped me get that inner handle off. All of this just to tighten the damn screws!😂 The part that really upset me was that I never had to take off that exterior handle. 🙄🔫Thanks so much.
