Hiya mate glad to see you up staxton again was at the shelter with the dogs last week as far as I knew there was only the air raid shelter and the base on top never knew about any bunker and I have been all over them woods 👀

Hi Buddy thank you. How long have you lived at Staxton? I lived there in the 90s when I was very young. I remember going into a bunker on that Hill. It had graffiti on the wall. I might have it confused with the air raid shelter, do you know how long that has been blocked up? Cheers

I was the P.T.I in charge of the base and Lecondfield Driffield Cowden and Fylingdales,and won the R.A.F inter station football cup,nobody had ever heard of us great memories 😉

I spent a couple of years there in the early 90s and never knew there was stuff in the trees nearby

Another great video and great to see the WW2 remains in the woods. Concrete Plynth looks like a Chain Home Radar Mast Base, especially with it having the Shelter so close to it. I would think there would be other structures associated with it in the area. The metal bracket you found in the woods is an old Plough Share, they wear out and farmers usually change them in the field and Chuck em. Great job Nick. 👍

Hi Lee, thank you for the comment. Yes some other people said its probably an old plough shoe. As you say the plinth is probably part of the WW11 chain home mast base. I'm sure there used to be another bunker around there at one time. I remember going into a bunker as a kid and I don't think it was the Air raid shelter bit could have been. I will need to go back and have another look around. I hope you are well, happy 2020 all the best.

Yes working fine now. It just went funny two times. My phone also went funny when I was near the fence.

Quad bike? Two wheels too many 😄 I was planning a trip over there later in the year for a look around. Looks interesting. Practical Photography did a good video on what is legal and illegal to photograph. It's worth a watch to know your rights if confronted by someone who doesn't.

I wonder if the radar is a microwave radar ? That would explain the interference on your phone. I believe the one at Fylingdale is so powerful that birds drop dead when they fly near it.
