You can switch the width parameter in the utility device to the old (Live 9) mid/side parameter. This allows you to get only the side signal without having to use any filter or eq. Depending on where the phase flip is in the signal flow you might be able to do all of this with one single utility device.

I don't get it - you merely filtered out the mid (where the vocal to be extracted sits) and are left with the sides. Now what ? I thought the purpose of this video was to show how to extract that vocal ? Confusing.

I like your tutorials but sometimes I get a little distracted with some side thoughts... Thank you for sharing.

Nice tutorial but I think you kind of miss named it. Technically extracting a vocal would have left you with a vocal only - you extracted the background by cancelling out the vocals. Just saying still cool if you want some bits for a remix or a karaoke version. I get that it depends what the panning on the mix is that determines how this works.

It's not important if you are in fl studio, just understand the concept from mid and side and you can do it ofc in fl studio as easy as it is in ableton 😁

Didn't show how to extract a vocal, rather you just showed us how to listen to the sides. For it to be extracting vocals, we would all have to very lucky and have all songs mixed this way. Extracting vocals is quite difficult to do well.
