The H&H really shines with the 26'' barrel. The old Remington 721 had those. This rifle has the 24''.

No flies on the 24" barrel.... I've got this exact Rem 700, 300H&H. Nothing it can't do that a 26" barrel can. A few extra FPS isn't that big of a deal, especially with modern powders. Only on paper would you ever be able to tell the difference.

I have one like that from brand new! I like 165 boat tail ,at 3100 to 3200 for deer and antelope. 185 for elk . my last antelope was 400 yards thru the heart.

Welcome to the club. It’s a great cartilage. No other 300 magnum has really improved on it. I’m not a fan of the “super” magnums, at which point men should just step up to a 338 Win Mag. Best powders are H4350 & H4831SC.

@@starnavigator6665 Reloading this cartridge is a joy. Using a RCBS Rock Chucker supreme single stage is a good investment. Lyman dies are a favorite.

Where the 300 h&h really separates itself from the 30-06 is with the 200 grain nosler partition at 2700 -2800 fps Or the 190-210 grain accubon LR Bullets ..try those iand it is a force to be reckoned with on elk moose or bear.

You're right a pH in Africa of considerable experience said the 220 gr. round nose is what made the reputation of the 300 H&H. Use a 200 gr. Spitzer. Moving down to the 180 gr. bullet, the extra velocity will do you no good. You might as well go down to the 30-06.

@@craigleibbrand7761 Exactly ..300 H&H and the 200 grain nosler partition at roughly 2700 fps is a wonderful combo Most guys shooting super fast 180 300 mags don't understand that logic We are talking strictly hunting large game elk moose and the 200 grain is good brown bear defence as well The slower velocity at 2700 fps is perfect for the nosler partition performance as well The 200 nosler is what I will always shoot in the 300 H&H

Almost 6 minutes of scenes of a target getting holes punched in it. Perhaps you can produce a sequel featuring the subject.
