Remi Tinubu Tells Nigerians To Farm+FG To Sue Daily Trust Over Samoa Report+Bago Under Fire|OjyOkpe

The Federal Government over the weekend, announced, that it will file a lawsuit against Daily Trust newspaper, over its report on the signing of the Samoa agreement.
The agreement, has been controversial due to fears that it may promote LGBTQ rights.
The Daily Trust had reported that some clerics, rights activists, and Civil Society Organisations in Nigeria were furious over the decision of the federal government to sign the controversial agreement.
However at a media briefing on Saturday, the federal government re-iterated that the agreement it signed was strictly for the economic development of the country, adding that there is nowhere in the agreement where LGBTQ+ or same-sex marriage was mentioned.
The minister of information and national orientation, Mohammed Idris at the briefing said that the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is tolerant of media criticism, but won’t condone anything capable of jeopardising national security.
Niger State Governor, Umar Bago, is in the eye of the storm, after he was caught in a viral video ordering his security detail to slap and deal with an Islamic cleric, who offered to deliver the closing prayer, during a ceremony for the late wife of his deputy, in Minna, Niger State over the weekend. The governor in the video also ordered his security detail to arrest the cleric.
The First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu is encouraging Nigerians to embrace farming.
Tinubu made this known in a post on X over the weekend, sharing pictures of herself, farming in her garden, and encouraging women to participate in the Every-Home-A-Garden competition which aims to inculcate the habit of farming and food production into society right from the family unit, and promote eating healthy foods.
While speaking to journalists at the State House Residence as she unveiled her vegetable garden, the First Lady said that women must be seen at the forefront of the Food Security Campaign in the country.
This is coming as the Federal High Court sitting in Lagos in a judgment reported by the Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project, ordered former Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disasters Management and Social Development, Sadia Umar-Farouk, to account for payments of N729bn Naira to 24.3 million poor Nigerians for six months.
According to SERAP, The judgment was delivered last month. The court also ordered the former minister to provide the list and details of the beneficiaries who received the payments, and also explain the rationale for paying N5,000 Naira to 24.3 million poor Nigerians, which translates to five percent of Nigeria’s budget of N13.6 trillion Naira for 2021.

The Governor instructed a police officer to carry out an unlawful order, the police officer should be arrested for assault, breach of human rights and false imprisonment for the unlawful arrest. The police officer should only act based on the law and not based on order from the governor. Immunity is from unlawful prosecution of a governor and not where there are compelling evidence of an offence committed by a governor. Remi Tinubu should be best ignored as she lacks the moral compass to advise Nigerians, she is not a mother of the nation she has lost that moral authority by her utterances.

When we talk about farming as a nation, we need industrial farming schemes, not individuals farming in plastic containers on their balconies, how many families can live of that kind of produce? It's irresponsible to ask citizens to start farming when the people in government are living lavishly. Governor's are traveling with motorcades & traveling abroad for medical vacations while you ask the rest of the nation to start farming to survive. Nigerians wake up!!!

What Governor Bago did to an innocent citizen is just a sample of where we are in Nigeria. Those who are in power seems to think that they're a sort of demi-gods who feel that they're above the law and can do and undo. It is only because the governor was recorded in the act that we are talking about this however other so called governors and ministers of government have and are still abusing the citizenry as we speak with impunity. Everybody will plant food in their house if they have gardens or if their landlord allows them to plant anything in the accommodation they're renting. A true leader will never demean or humiliate any citizen as this Governor just did. It is irresponsible and reprehensible. In saner climes, this Governor would be asked to quit, but what do I know. I hope that the human rights watchdogs, including the Nigeria Bar Association would guide this victim to file appropriate law suits against the people that did the actually slapping. More so, the Governor should apologize to the victim immediately.

The Samoa agreement did not endorse same-sex marriage. Samoa, like many other Pacific Island nations, has traditionally held conservative views on marriage and LGBTQ+ issues. The country's laws and cultural norms have generally reflected these views, and same-sex marriage is not legally recognized in Samoa. Samoa's constitution and legal framework do not provide for same-sex marriage, and there have been no significant legislative or policy changes endorsing such unions. The Samoan society and its leaders, including those from religious institutions, have generally maintained a stance that aligns with traditional definitions of marriage as a union between a man and a woman.

Respect to Daily trust for calling a spade a spade! Nobody will bluntly add LGBTQ in an agreement with a culture like ours that doesn’t entertain it. It’s now left for the government to make a stance of reiterating non tolerance of all that. Regards
