Dr Salim Ali aka 'The father of Indian ornithology' shaped the future of Indian birdwatching. He is the reason why youngsters like us across the nation are tilting towards bird watching as their passion. It was his fight for conservation that helped government focus on saving critical bird areas and establishing bird sanctuaries.
Today on the 125th birth anniversary of Dr Salim, to relive his memories, we are meeting his friend, apprentice and one of the most brilliant minds of India. He is a doctor, a professor, a scientist, an expert ornithologist and an authority of India's finest institutes. Meet Dr Erach Bharucha. With over 50 years of experience in wildlife & nature conservation, he was fortunate to spend some of those years with Dr Salim Ali. He is the director of one of the most sought after institutes of India, Bharati Vidyapeeth Institute Of Environmental Education And Research. He is also an author of many publications and another book on Dr Salim himself is on its way.
