On sunday 2nd June 2024, rob burrow passed away at age 41 due to complications of motor neurone disease.
following his death, his former club Leeds rhinos posted a long tourching post paying tribute to their legend.
In a post, they said Rob was
Diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease (MND) in December 2019, he bravely fought until his peaceful passing at Pinderfields Hospital, surrounded by family.
Rob Burrow was a cornerstone of Leeds Rhinos, playing his entire career with the club. Known for his dedication and fearless play, he helped secure eight Grand Final victories and won the Man of the Match in 2007 and 2011. Over his career, he made 492 appearances, scoring 196 tries.
Following his MND diagnosis, Rob and his family raised awareness and funds, inspiring nearly £20 million, including over £6 million for the Rob Burrow Centre for MND in Leeds.
We thank the staff at Pinderfields Hospital for their care. The groundbreaking for the new Rob Burrow Centre for MND will proceed as planned. Fans wishing to pay their respects can visit Headingley Stadium’s South Stand from Sunday evening.
In a way of honouring Rob burrow, Leeds Rhinos are to host a seven mile charity run
The run, will take place at 19:00 BST on Friday 7 June, in recognition of Burrow's shirt number.
A foundation spokesperson said it would "celebrate the life of a true rugby league legend and inspiration"..
