Remembering Karen Carpenter

Ойын-сауық

One of the most talented Singers I ever heard. A beautiful, inspirational Voice. Such a tragedy.... Such a loss to the music world She was.
Her Voice and the music She performed with her brother is still loved and cherished around the World. Even today, I occasionally pop on her music (The Carpenters), or one of her Songs comes on the Radio and it sends a tingle down my spine and old memories are evoked.
Will we ever hear the likes again?
A great Drummer She was Too!!
Karen was born on March 2nd 1950 & Died on February 4th 1983.

The burden that Karen carried deep in her heart gave her voice the power to touch us all at a deep personal level. I'm 80 and never did find that 'someone' that I could turn to so I listened to Karen's many songs that seemed to understand the emptiness. I am thankful that I did see her in concert.

How unhappy Karen must have been, to starve herself as she did. To remain unable to accept that she looked hopelessly emaciated, to the point of dying from, essentially, undernourishment... Why she didn't get the intensive help she so clearly needed - to remain so miserable in the face of all those successes. An unnecessary end that must have been such a heartbreak to all her family. Well I recall the profound shock even I felt on hearing news of her death half a planet away, far moreso than all the 27 year olds whose early ends in the musical industry used to make the headlines even younger than did Karen. A truly lovely lass when at her best, with an angel's voice. What pressures "society" puts on young women, to push them so....

Her mother was too controlling and Karen tried so hard to get her mother to acknowledge her. 😢nothing worked. Karen felt that she could only control her weight and that is how it started. It was something no one could tell her what to do. Her mother was the one who needed help from the start.

Vincent Gelder, lol 😆. I believe if the yelling would stop and live concert performances were less aggressive, a new voice would surface from the existing artists. It is a miracle how some of these singers have not screwed up their voices. Karen Carpenter drew her audience in by her smooth sound, clear pitch and clear articulation (people memorized her lyrics because they were audible and understood). No one can duplicate her, but the music industry needs to seek a “mellow” sound that doesn’t encourage anger with hatred. I may be ole fashion, oh well...

The purity and ease of her voice is so unmatched. Her life just shows us how fragile we are as human beings. Even the most promising of lives are not immune to lifes tragedies. We after all are only human and no matter what we achieve it can and will eventually be taken away. You have to be happy in your soul and accept what you cannot change. And realize life is a gift for us all. Have a grateful heart always.

I first heard Karen's voice around 1974, I was 8,,, I'm 55 soon and I still say my Nana had the best taste in music for someone who hated the Rock N Roll era when my mum had Elvis pinned up on her wall!! She had every Carpenters album, and I'm going cold writing this, I was so emotional for years when KC was taken through the terrible disease that she fought so hard to beat, I now turn that sadness into joy, I thank the Lord he gave us the finest voice in music ever, she was just incredible, and to hear such legends like Dionnne Warwick say "you had to see her live to realise how much more than a singer she was" she hit notes only studio mixing desks make today to make someone sound note perfect, Karen didn't even need Echo,,,, GOD BLESS KC,,,,, ❤️❤️

@@r.blakehole932 I don't think she meant it "that way"... what Missey Maria meant was: what drove Karen to her eating disorder was listening to other folks "opinion" about her "weight"... you probably didn't know... but when Karen and Richard started on the BIG career Karen was "criticized" for being a little "overweight" which must has devastated her... that might have been the beginning of her disorder.. and that's why Missey Maria said... "drop the weight on other peoples OPINION..." her statement had NOTHING to do with not being healthy.... quite the opposite...
