It’s a sad day in the automotive world. 39-year-old TV personality, fabricator and driver, Jessi Combs, passed away while attempting to beat her own land speed record in a jet-powered, F-104 Starfighter converted into a land speed record challenger, the North American Eagle.
Combs set the women’s land speed record on October 9, 2013 with an official run of 398.95 mph, breaking the previously held record of of 308.51 mph held by Lee Breedlove. Dubbed the “Fastest Woman on Four Wheels”, she was attempting to exceed 512 mph according to a recent Instagram post.
Jessi was a host of Xtreme 4×4 on PowerBlock. She also appeared on Overhaulin’ , Mythbusters and All Girls Garage. Our hearts go out to her family during this difficult time.

Went out in an F-104 Starfighter like a freakin' legend. Woman deserves the funeral of a Viking warrior. Respect.

So shocked and saddened to hear of Jessi Combs passing! I remember her days on Spike TV on Sunday mornings, building cool rides. And then her time on All Girls Garage. She had the greatest personality and seemed genuinely likeable. She will be greatly missed, but as I always point out in circumstances like this, she died doing what she loved! My family sends our prayers and condolences to Jessi's family.❤🙏
I've loved watching her since the first episode of Xtreme 4x4. She empowered and helped so many women venture into the fabrication world. She certainly lived life to the fullest. Something that not many of us can say about ourselves. She will be missed. So much..... I've been chopping onions all day,,,, serious.
Omg! Hadnt heard anything about this! She was awesome and prayers go out to her family and friends!
My heart sank when I heard the news of her passing, may she Rest in Peace. I don't think I ever missed an episode of Xtreme 4x4.

Agree. After four years on the show, she deserved far more or at least a mention that they were planning to do a proper dedication later.
Rip she basically got me into 4x4 from her tv show. The looks and the brains. Total package. Rip
I loved watching Extreme 4x4 with Jessi and Ian. Rip.
R.I.P Jess.... Shocked when I heard the news. Saw all her shows including Power Block. She was gifted and will be missed. ❤

I’ve watched SO many episodes of Powerblock growing up. Y’all had a BIG part in inspiring me to be the gearhead I am today. She’s one of the greats. Sad that she’s gone, but she’ll never be forgotten.
Rest Easy Jessi! I've spent countless weekends growing up watching and learning from you! Thank you for everything!
Rest in peace, Jessie. You made such a great contribution and you will be greatly missed. Farewell and good luck.
Loved her enthusiasm and loved how far she went. Been watching her from the beginning. Was part of my inspiration to go to automotive school. Gonna miss her.
Such a tragedy, she was an inspiration to girls everywhere. My sincerest condolences too her family and friends. She will be greatly missed.
She closed the gap between male & female auto mechanics & showed girls they could be a proud mechanic & be open to the automotive world. Such an Amazing Person R.I.P🙏
Sad news, I think she was or is still a good example for everyone regardless of gender. She just went for it!

@Joe Kinchicken So what its a gender thing? A bunch of guys have died on top speed runs as well, some due to driver error, some due to mech failure. They all went for it.
Thanks for posting this, super nice to see all the tributes to Jessi today. Sad to see her go, though
My heart sank when I read this... I was fortunate to meet Jessi one time at the location in Franklin where they filmed Extreme 4x4. My crew worked there several days installing holding pens for all the different shows to have a safe place fir parts till needed. In a few occasions while we worjed and they worked/filmed, our paths would cross. And who couldn't pass up a chance to speak with the likes if a Jessi Combs. I've always been a car nut and just to speak with someone so knowledgeable and so down to earth was a real pleasure. RIP Jessi, you will definitely be missed.
Seriously, she was one of the people I looked forward to on Saturday mornings on power block. Super amazing woman. We will all miss you Jessi!!
Yes, sad day, indeed. She was a favorite for this fan and she'll be missed, for sure. Godspeed Jessi.

I was shocked and saddened to hear of this loss yesterday. I loved watching Xtreme 4x4. Jessi lived more in her 39 years than most that live into their 70's and 80's do their whole lives. R.I.P.
I remember watching her for the first time in Overhaulin'. She had just graduated from WyoTech I believe. My oldest daughter watched her on a few shows and I told her that she could work on cars just as well as Jessi did. R.I.P. Jessi.....

Going to miss you Jessi, rest in peace
She will surely be missed! One of the kindest, down to earth people to ever swing a wrench and push limits no matter what she did. DIP (Drive In Peace) Jessi! 🚙👼
I have 3 little girls that love to help daddy work on his truck and anything to do with turning wrenches. And when I can stop crying....... I have to tell them the bad news. They are 4,5, and 6. And want to be just like her when they grow up. She is their role model and hero. And now she is with the lord.
Rest Easy Jessi Combs Gone but Never Forgotten 🙏
What an awesome person that lived life to the fullest...rest in peace🙏
loved watching her on Xtreme 4x4 !! RIP Jessi Combs. :-(
God bless Jesse Combs! This girl was such an inspirational person!
I remember her first time on the show. Beautiful and impressing young lady. She will be dearly missed. My thoughts and prayers go out to her and her family.
RIP Jessi Combs Loved your determination and spirit.
Oh, that is so awful. She was enjoyable to watch. I cheered her on as I think it's great to see women doing 4x4 or playing bass guitar or whatever they enjoy doing. What a tragic loss. Condolences to her family and friends. I am so sorry.
I also grew up on Powerblock, I became a welder/ fabricator and gearhead. I remember when the studio next door borrowed her leathers to shield a trans. from plasma wash and they trashed em.. She was soo upset and anyone who depends on their leathers can relate. Im truly saddened by her passing. I just hope Jessi knew how loved she was/is and always will be. 😢❤️
