Remembering Doctor Michael Mosley After His Tragic Accident | This Morning

Ойын-сауық

On Wednesday, while holidaying in Greece, 67-year-old doctor Michael Mosley left his wife and friends and set out alone from Saint Nicholas Beach to walk back to their friends' home in Symi Town. When Michael didn't arrive home, his wife Clare reported him missing and a search party was sent out on Thursday, following clues and CCTV to locate the doctor. But yesterday, our reporter David Blackmore, on a boat with the mayor of Symi, first noticed a body near the Agia Marina on rocky terrain. With the devastating confirmation that it was Michael, we are remembering him on today’s show. We can join our reporter David live from Symi as well as Michael’s friend and colleague Dr Phil Hammond and Dr Sara who will explain why Michael’s ground-breaking 5:2 diet helped so many.

The strange thing, when he went missing, was that I kept checking the BBC/Sky news/Greek newspaper websites etc to check if he had been found or for any updates. It actually felt like a friend had gone missing and I was really concerned. That has never happened to me before, genuine concern for a person I had watched but never met.

Me too! I was deeply worried, but tried to calm myself thinking he’d probably felt unwell and had sat down somewhere for a rest .. but as the days passed on and there was still no news of his whereabouts, i had an awful feeling that things weren’t right and he was probably already gone .. such an awful, tragic, thing to happen to such a wonderful man. His programmes on Radio 4 were my absolute favourites and I tried not to miss a single one. RIP Dr. Moseley…❤️⭐️ and thank you for the brilliant programmes and your wisdom, good humour and encouragement. You will be missed …

There are moments in life where you feel as though you’ve slipped in to some awful parallel universe when something happens which seems so unbelievable it’s hard to grasp that it’s actually real. Dr Mosleys passing is one of those moments. The world feels less safe without this wonderful man in it. I’m not sure if that makes sense to anyone else but that’s how I feel. He made me feel safer because I knew that anything I read, watched or listened to from him was specifically designed to improve our health and wellbeing. I knew that was his aim and to know he was out there working away with that aim was somehow extremely comforting. I’m so so sorry for his loss and I will treasure his advice and work to follow it as best I can. Thank you Dr Mosley. You are so loved and are you so missed x

Put your trust in Jesus. He heals, comforts (through the Holy Spirit), gives us access to God (John 14:6) and God gives us the gift of wisdom and good judgment too. And peace, Godly love, joy and patience (Galatians 5:22-23). I didn't know I lacked wisdom before but I now realize I definitely did...

Incredibly tragic💔....dying from a walk on vacation. Hard to understand how it could go so wrong. Hard to accept and not wonder WHY. Have heard different sayings, one that he wasnt feeling well, leaving wife and friends to go back " home" , other sayings that he just went for a walk? Dont know why he would go off for a long walk in that heat, its not pleasant and even if he is described as adventurous. Its just really awkward and very very tragic.

Admittedly I know nothing about him and only heard about this person after he died ,but my guestimate will be. That in his private life he might be was clumsy , sloppy and sometimes utterly incompetent. I'm a technical person and engineer and I generally observed the journalists are be on one side quite intelligent and on the other lacking competence and common sense of simple peasant. And they are often in a real life opposite to a public image they present on TV. But again I know nothing about the person and just speculate on what could be the most logical answer. @@curlysue3620 but you said, you wouldn’t “let” someone. You can’t control an adult. And as for “should’ve known better”, where is your compassion? God forbid you or a loved one makes an error of judgement & finds themselves in a dangerous situation. Human beings aren’t perfect. We make mistakes. But we also don’t know how he was feeling or what was going through his mind. Best not to judge.

It’s such a tragedy. A very clever and worthy doctor but being clever doesn’t necessarily bring with it common sense, sadly. I live in Greece and nobody goes for a walk , let alone a hike in the blistering midday sun! He was without a cell phone and not fully aware of the rough terrain by opting to take a longer route back across the mountain. The autopsy will hopefully bring the result and reasons as to why he passed away but but I imagine dehydration would certainly be a major reason if he had fainted from heatstroke. Whatever, I feel for his family and friends and he will be missed.😓

Going for a walk lunchtime in a heatwave without a phone or something to drink sounds strange. People are always told to keep out of the hot heat between the hours of 11.30 am and 4.00pm in hot summers. Surely he was aware of this.

Not odd at all for a 67 year old man on holiday not to want to be glued to his phone 24/7. The walk was only supposed to take ten minutes so no need for water. He has obviously become disorientated and was a bit more poorly than anyone - including he - thought. It's a genuine tragedy.

Do you realise that he died, probably not, your comment is cruel, callous, unhinged, it lacks empathy and sympathy, Michael walked that area on another trip yet he returned alive, it is very, very, very sad and tragic that he did not return alive, instead of writing garbage put yourself in his wife and childrens place, and ffs think before you write.

Such an amazing talent will never be forgotten. Shame the risk to walk in very hot weather amongst scorching stones happened. It would have been an oven. However, something could have gone wrong. Maybe he twisted his ankle. Anything could have made the walk longer and dangerous. Thank you Dr Mosely for everything you gave to the world. I am sure you saved thousands if not millions of lives. I appreciate your books and documentaries.Sad you were not found in time and saved. God bless you and your family.
