Remember Who You Are

The spark divine dwells in thee: let it grow. - Ella Wheeler Wilcox
The message in this film scene is about waking up and remembering what lies within you...realizing the power and the potential of the magnificent soul which resides within every human heart.
Like each of us, you have a calling to discover and display that soul for the world to see...or to choose instead to let it lie dormant, neglected, and overshadowed by a more shallow self.
It's not about e.g.o. (edging God out), but instead it's about realizing that within you is a "spark of the divine." You carry around within you a piece of that same awesome, creative, and divine Force that forms the universe.
"Look harder...."
"You see....? He lives in you..."
The masters and great teachers of the past have all taught us....the way to discover and connect with this creative and divine Force that exists within and around us (aka, God...Love), is to spend some time each day in meditation, quiet reflection, and/or affirmative prayer.

“Father, don’t leave me!” That part breaks me now. My father passed away almost two years ago. Before he died, he gave me a similar message. He saw that I hadn’t reached my full potential yet. And tbh I still haven’t yet; professionally or emotionally. I never had the relationship with him or the rest of my friends and family that I wanted and I haven’t been successful in my career up to this point and now I feel like it’s too late. It’s starting to feel like life is worthless. However, watching this has given me a new drive to pursue my career harder and become a better person so I can mend those relationships with people. I know it’s not too late too become financially successful but I hope I can fix/develop relationships with people that are important to me.

I know this might sound absolutely crazy, but this is exactly what I needed to hear at this exact moment. I've been a terrible son of late. I've spent over half of this Freshman year in college barely scraping by, barely hanging on (academically, that is). Hell my grades are headed straight for the shitter right now. So full of regret over the pain of the past, and so full of longing for the few good things that happened. All alone, I've wasted away my days on games trying to just forget about the overwhelming stress of everyday life. I've forgotten the child who spent his early years dreaming he could save the world and make everyone happy. Maybe I can do neither of those things, but ever has my dad been my greatest inspiration and I cannot do him the disservice and dishonor of falling into apathetic nothingness for the rest of my life. It'll be tough as hell, but I've got to do it. Time to fight. Thank you dude who uploaded this. You may have changed my life. Or maybe not. We'll see. If I wasted anyone's time who read this, I am truly sorry, and I bid thee farewell and safe travels. :)

You have not wasted anyone's time. I can relate to your situation as well. Please don't be discouraged, if you want to become a better person, then by God go out there and be it! Change the world, find courage, have faith every single day and be kind to all you meet. I TRULLY believe, if we put out minds and, most importantly, our hearts into what we wish then we can accomplish great things. Be strong, courageous and kind my dear friend and may the Lord bless you in all of your days to come. Good luck.

Personally, I found this scene sadder and far more powerful than the one where Mufasa dies (don't get me wrong, that one's very sad too). Not sure why but this one just hits me so hard in the feels every time. It's just the idea of sliding into a state of apathy and not caring about anything when you know you could have done so much more to be a far better person. Parents long for their kids to do something with their life and it's just the thought of dishonoring them and putting all their effort, time, and money spent into raising you into an adult from childhood to waste that is so difficult to bear and just fills you with regret and sadness that you can't change the past. Very powerful scene, I appreciate this scene now at the age of 31 more than I ever did as a child watching this.

When I understood that I am more than what I thought I was, I became aware of my true desires and then it clicked: "this is who I truly am". Relieve washed all over me, then guilt: "it was so simple, could have done this much sooner". But watching Simba's journey, it became clear that we judge ourselves through the lens of the present. But at the time we choose to do something or not, we do it to survive, be it running or hiding away, but it is for a reason. So I am grateful for the me that did all he could to protect me, but now it's time to grow out of the shell that protect us. Some take more time, some less, but we all should aspire to face ourselves eventually.

This scene is sad and up lifting at the same time. It's a son who out of guilt and fear neglected his duty, and his Father understood but told him he can't run anymore. When you love someone they never truly die. You still would beg give anything to get them back. Maybe even ones soul , the sad truth of it is that's not the way life works.

A lot of us are walking around depressed, suicidal, comparing ourselves to others, all in all forgetting who we are and who God is. We must remember who God is so that we know who we are!! Nothing can separate us from God

This scene and this movie have had a place in my heart forever since I was a kid. I can remember always trying to mimic Mufasa's voice. In a way, Mufasa reminds me of my own father. I was born in '92, a year before this movie came along. I would always remember waking up and roaring when Simba became king of the Pridelands. Back in the 90's, Disney movies actually meant something. Long live 90's Disney movies!

Whenever I see this I get emotional, and surprised by those words Mufasa gave Simba. Simba was my favorite Disney character since childhood, and Kingdom Hearts Rafiki was one of the most wise characters ever, and I still have this on VHS.

I see a similar conversation occurring between the Ghost of Vader and the older Luke Skywalker: "Luke...Luke..." "Father?" "Luke, you have forgotten me." "No, I never did... how could I?" "You have forgotten who you are and so you have forgotten me. Look you inside yourself, my son. The Force flows stronger in your blood than any before. Stronger than even me. You must become a Jedi again." "How could I go back? I'm not who once was." "Remember who you are, Luke. You are my son. You are a Jedi. It is time for you rejoin the Force." "Father!" "Remember who you are." "Please, don't leave me!" "My son... remember... remember... remember..."

JediGamerX Well considering Hayden may or may not be back in Episode VIII... I know people dislike his performance, but I know he did the best he could with the lines he was given. With Lucas out of the way and with the guy who directed Empire co-writing the script on all three movies... Still, if I had a choice, I'd have an older Anakin or as I said, Vader.
