No. The Hobbit had Bilbo tricking Smaug the dragon at the end. The Lord of the Rings had Frodo getting his finger bitten off by Gollum. 🎼”Frodo of the nine fingers... and the ring of doom.” Grand songs like that and “Where there’s a whip (cracking sound) There’s a way!” by the marching orc army.

I liked the animated movie better then the live action trilogy. The animated version was closer to the book.

When you come to think of it, there could have been a Thundercats/Silver Hawks/Tigersharks crossover since all involved space travel. Thanks for covering this. The nostalgia is priceless.

There was a Silverhawks/Thundercats crossover. Tigersharks missed out; because they came late to the party and barely had time to settle in.

Being a kid in the 80's was awesome. All these cartoons were awesome.

The Tigersharks are featured as a captured species in the 2011 Thundercats. When Mum-Ra leads Lion-O’s ancestor through his ship you see the Tigersharks swimming in a tank behind them.

You guys should do Galaxy Ranger's. That show was ahead of its time and deserves some credit for what it achieved. If any of the old 80's show deserves a remake, it's this one.

This was part of The Comic Strip. I miss this series.

So, Bizarrely wasn't T-Ray's henchman, but led his own crew and you did not mention them all. You also forgot the two bumblers Carp & Wall-Eye, I believe. Someone else already mentioned the strong men in the 3 series.

Mako was my favorite. One of the rare times I was a fan of the lead character.

You guys should do visionaries next. Lot of people don't remember it

Saw a KZread video about the cartoon. Was amazed how many guys could recite the spells which activated their totems. “Three suns aligned, pour forth their light, and fill this archer’s bow with might!”.

Hell yeah!!!! Loved it!!!!! I wish they made a cartoon for "Battle Beasts"! The toys were sweet, and had cool commercials! Late 80's were the end if the Saturday Morning cartoon/Action Figures era!!!!

Just saw this. I worked for Rankin Bass on all three shows and in addition to the pop culture stuff you mention, have to say it was a blast for the people who made the shows.

The Mini Monsters premise was done to death in the 80s. ..the Drak Pack, Rick Moranis at Gravedale High, and Scooby Doo and the Ghoul School.

Oh god! I remember this show! But only ever so slightly. I was born in 86 and caught this somewhere on TV as a wee kid. But I never got the name. Thank you for making this!!

If only a crossover with all three Rankin/Bass titles were created. DC Comics has the rights to Thundercats... I wonder if they have the rights to Tigersharks and Silverhawks?

There was going to be a spin off series in 1990 after Thundercats ended. It was called Thunderforce and was supposed to be a crossover between all 3 shows. They went so far as making new figures but Rankin Bass was bought by Warner and the plans were scuttled.

I viewed Mako as the field leader while Octavia's duty was to the ship. Funny thing is when I watched Star Wars: Rebels, Hera reminded me of Octavia.

They had that whole Riker/Picard vibe where the leader had enough confidence in their crew to delegate tasks.

While I don't think that The Pirates of Dark Water was the greatest cartoon ever, I DO agree that it, as well as Thundarr the Barbarian were HUGELY underrated, as well as were cancelled well before they should have been cancelled.

Now you just need to do the cartoons "The Centurions" & "COPS"

Favorite episode was where T-Ray and his underwater people went backwards through the Fishtank and became air-breathers.

If you haven't done C.O.P.S. yet, you really need to. That was one of the best cyberpunk cartoons of the 80s.

I remember that show back in 1987. Karate Kat is my favorite show. It's like James Bond meets Morris the cat show. I still have all the episodes recorded in 1987 and still enjoying it. I would like to see you do one on Biker Mice from Mars, Bucky O' Hare and anime shows(Speed Racer, Starblazers, Sailor Moon, etc.)

The opening theme of Tigersharks is fantastic. Full of energy and more memorable than the actual show. The character design was fun though.

Street Frogs looks awesome. I remember Karate Kat

And if u haven't BraveStar! 30/30 was fun! Especially when it was time to pull out old Sara Jane!

Well land, sea, and air are covered. The 80's thank you. If only we could get a release of tigersharks.

10:25 On Thundercats, if I remember correctly, aside from above-average strength (which I would expect from any human-animal hybrid) Chetaria was the only one with a true superpower (super speed) because all the rest of them had to use a weapon or piece of equipment to use their abilities.

Actually, Tygra had a power, too. He could generate realistic looking illusions using his mind, which he used to test Lion-O during his trials to become lord of the Thundercats. Panthro explains that it takes a lot out of Tygra to use such power, so he rarely uses it.

I had the Mako action figure. This was one of my favorite shows.

I don't really remember Tigersharks. However, Thundercats was very much part of my growing up then. Oh, the memories.

My favorite character was Mr.Googly Eyes... *"Look into my eyes, as they stare and goggle Do as I say or your mind will boggle!"* ...And now you think so too!

Theme songs made these toons awesome.

"TigerSharks" was the only part of "The Comic Strip" that I really liked.

More Tigersharks facts: some episodes are still missing. Only 11 of the 26 produced are available on the grey market. The complete series is now owned by Warner and they DO have it in their archive, last time I asked they said they had no plans on releasing it on its own or a complete "The Comic Strip" set. The Tigersharks action figures are some of the rarest 80s toys and individual figures sell for $200-800, thats loose too, not sealed on the card still.

I've been waiting for them to release the series for years. I have the Thundercats and Silverhawks collection but they feel incomplete without TigerSharks...

I'm an 80's kids who lived in Philippines and grew up watching all these cartoons, especially TigerSharks.

Wow! I remembered the Tigersharks which brought me here. But I didn’t remember all the others, UNTIL you just showed them to me now it’s ALL rushing back!

so... two members of the team are actually mammals and not fish. Lorca the Orca and Dolph the Dolphin. great writing Rankin Bass. then again, I watched this show, so apparently I drank the Kool-Aid too.

Wow , this takes me back to after school cartoons. I miss the 80's lol.

I wish this got a reboot. At least there was a nod to them in the 2011 Thundercats show.

The toys are worth big bucks nowadays.. The only 80s toyline that goes for more are the dinosaucers

The theme song is BADASS. How could I forget this show.

Saturday mornings 9AM WWOR Channel 9: Never missed the Comic Strip! Still own all Tiger Shark episodes on VHS taped as the show aired!

It should also be noted that Rankin-Bass also produced the 1982 made-for-TV movie "The Sins of Dorian Gray" which featured a female version of the titular character portrayed by actress Belinda Bauer.

I honestly didn't want to talk to anyone about it because I wasn't sure if I imagined it all!! What a relief!!

WOW I thought I remembered all the 80's cartoons, but I don't remember these cartoons, now I want to see them.

The 2011 Thundercats reboot was excellent too bad it didn't have more seasons or we could have seen a Thundercats, Silverhawks, and Tigersharks crossover.

I'm sorry, why are these videos so ADD, "hey remember tigersharks? Let's talk about frogs, oh look animated frogs with hats! Oh wait what were we talking about?"

well.... only thing left to do is to make a movie starring the Tigersharks, Silverhawks and Thundercats all working together to take down a common threat.

I remember Tigersharks on the comic strip cartoon block in the 80s. I thought i wasn't the only one who saw the air, land, sea reference between the 3 cartoons. Tigersharks cartoon didn't the impact and popularity as ThunderCats and Silver Hawks. No Tigersharks toys were ever produced sadly nor do i remember was a comic book (i could be wrong) at the time. I would be more to happy if this was possible a triple comic crossover between ThunderCats, SilverHawks, and Tigersharks...that would be AWESOME!!

Rankin Bass Universe: Thundercats Silverhawks Tigersharks

From what I recall, Captain Bizarrely and his crew (the two crewmen whom you forgot to mention were Long John Silverfish and Spike Marlin) were villains indigenous to Water-o, and were imprisoned by the Waterian in Seaberia until the Mantanas came and freed them (the two Mantanas whom you forgot to mention were Carper and Weakfish). I think that my favorite was Walleye (Mr. "Google-y Eyes").

One thing that I'd forgotten to mention was how I wished that Rankin-Bass maybe could have combined the SilverHawks and TigerSharks onto a "group" DVD(hint,hint, hint to whatever is left of the Rankin-Bass Company?).

The new version of Thundercats actually shows the Tigershatks and Monstarr from Silverhawks. If they wouldn't have cancelled the show I think we could've seen them all together.

You left out Melvin, who is Merlin's son, Winifred, the witch's daughter, Klutz, who is based on Godzilla, and the Gillman's son. Also Caufield the crow and Dr. Jekyll who is the camp doctor.

Did like this show. Thought it was amusing that their big bad leader Mako was worthless on land when transformed because as a shark he couldn't breathe out of water but Dolph, Lorca, and Walro could stay underwater for seeming hours before running out of air

I'm most hurt that the catchphrase wasn't mentioned, which is 96% of why I remember the show. "Tiger tiger, by the tail? Tiger tiger, Tigersharks!"

Captain Bizzarly was not a henchman of T-Ray but another Villian with his own gang. They would teamup then try to double cross each other.

Comic Strip was a good time. And Karate Kid was most memorable for the catchphrase

Since they fly, it would be a "squadron" of Silverhawks. It would be a "fleet" of Tigersharks.

I remember when I was a kid in early 90s, one day ThunderCats stopped showing and this showed instead, and I just thought it was the same. Anyone else remember that?
