Remember Jones vs. Reyes

Спорт

In February 2020, UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Jon Jones looked to defend his title against a young contender named Dominick Reyes. Jones is considered one of the greatest MMA fighters of all time, and a victory would see him surpass Georges St-Pierre for most victories in title fights. The confident Reyes gave Jones all he could handle in a fight that lives on in UFC history. #jonjones #dominickreyes #shorts #ufc

It's like the MMA Gods gifted Reyes with the ability to push Jon to the brink, but in return he had to give 80% of his fighting ability up forever afterwards. The saddest thing is, Dom wasn't even awarded for his performance, and now it seems as if he will never be the same. Jan cracked his chin, Jiri absolutely destroyed it, and Ryan Spann took what was left of it.

@@cipherP9 Gus flat out lost the 2nd time for sure. No question about it. Jon had taken him more seriously in the 2nd fight, had also improved by then and stopped him. Jon was more patient and actually set up take downs in the 2nd fight.. The first fight was a very controversial decision. He gave Jon that work. I watched it again the other day. Jon did not win that fight. But he got a gift decision. My My theory to this day is that Jon severely underestimated Alex. He thought because Phil Davis folded Alex so easy with wrestling and submitted him in a couple minutes, he would be able to do the same easily. But Alex trained hard for that fight and was ready for Jon and employed a great strategy that worked. Keep the fight standing, excellent movement and footwork that confused Jon and that he was not ready for and bust him up with good boxing combos. Jon’s boxing was exposed that night too. It sucks…..
