These videos with Dr. Steven Zucker & Dr. Beth Harris are all consistently phenomenal, illuminating and of great quality. Thank you so much.
The swashes of bright colours in the face are just amazing. Almost Impressionist.
I've seen that portrait in person, and it's almost scary. It really does look alive, more like an actual person standing in a window than a painting.
A true work of art... Thank you Khan Academy for the extremely interesting and ever so wonderful videos.
Even this video is a work of Art ! I like the tempo and clearness of the voices that fitts the comment as well as the painting itself !
Awesome Video you guys!
So incredibly well done 🙌🏼
This painting is THE masterpiece of self-portraits.

That was a great video! Loved the content and the way it was presented. Thanks!
Extraordinario. En mi opinión la expresión y sus ojos reflejan absoluta piedad. Gracias
I keep returning to this video. The painting is simply breathtaking. I must see this in person one day. Thank you for the video.

+Smaakjeks K .... when I saw first time Rembrandts painting in person, I was hypnotised for at least one hour. I couldn't move. The greatest artist ever lived on this world.
Wonderful.
Welcome back!
no encuentro los gloriosoa maestros que nos mostraban estudios sobre la luz desde antano los encontre years ago y mis fascinaciooooooooon sacudio el mundo que veeamos alguien
the most amazing portrait ever made
Light in these dark times
Good relevant commentary
You guys make amazing videos. Keep going!
and as always... enjoy!
"There is no paint!" The man astounds us, b/c he really was the 'first introspect,' without fear.
Bonito .
The 1628 and 1630 portraits 🔥🔥🔥 The current one is... kinda sad, maybe just somber. It's not a "say cheese" kind of portrait, but I detect no joy here. (Which made more sense by the end of the video. Poor guy.)
I'm particularly struck by the modeling of light and shadow in terms of warms and cools. It's almost foreshadowing someone like Monet, but so much earlier.
👁️💛
Art man! Not cheap illustration artwork of today, removed from soul
REMBRANDT EST LE MAITRE DES MAITRES . J AIME BEAUCOUP

True, but the spoken word gives depth and motion, even without the motion of the "slides".
Almost looks like it's from the impressionist period.
