Thanks for watching guys if you end up joining the 15 dollar patreon tier this month for the video, please let me know if you like the long lesson format! It's only the second one I've done and I want to be sure they're good / worth your money. So please feel free to shoot me a twitter DM with feedback or email me or whatever and tell me what I could do better. Thanks! - MM

You should do a series where you just have a picture of an Item/Object in a game you don't know and have to do guess work to how it sounds based purely on looks and then later compare your sound to the one in the game.

Hey, thanks as always for the entertaining, thought-provoking content! That was awesome! It would be cool to see a recreation of that quintessential Inception horn-like BRAAAHMM sound. Perhaps a little in-your-face, but it would still be interesting to see how close you could get. Another interesting task might be to take the concept of time slowing down to a near stop, and then trying to create a sound to match that idea. I was looking for a JoJo clip as a reference, but all the examples are over compressed, and it's not as well-done of a sound as I remember.

One thing that I find super useful in sci-fi sounds is making a layer called "air" and have it just being white noise with a highpass around 10k-20khz. Then modulate the volume, panning and whatever to match the other layers. I find that really solidifies a lot of the sounds by adding some sizzle. But that's just what I'd do; I like sizzle. Looking at your air-conditioner-sound preferences, you seem to prefer warmer sounds, I'm the opposite. Awesome work!

since I usually work with synthesis rather than with samples, I was thinking more like fm chirp (fast decay on pitch), lp'd kick + mid-freq impact, hp/bp'd noise fm chirps are super easy to do and they give a really crisp high-end that I think was a really good choice (if that was the original technique) as a short pre-transient for the portal gun
