Sir how do i get the value of a if the question is a polynomial divided by x-*a* With a remainder

Hi Your Big Fan, since the divisor is of the form x - a, you may use this form in finding the value of a. Example, in x - 6, since it is of the form x - a, the value of a is 6. Another example, if the divisor is x + 5, you may write that as x - (-5). So the value of a is -5. Another way is by equating to zero. In x - 6, x - 6 = 0 (Add 6 to both sides) x = 6

But what if the reaminder is not given?

Hello Calla Lind 😊 Given the dividend and the divisor, you may use the remainder theorem to find the remainder. Consider this. What is the remainder when x² + 5x - 1 is divided by x - 3? Solution By the remainder theorem, (3)² + 5(3) - 1 = 9 + 15 - 1 = 23 The remainder is 23.
What is the difference of remainder theorem to factor theorem? Same process?

Yes Nxkulits. Same process. If the remainder is 0, it is a factor.

sirrrrrr hello po ulit, pano p yung 9+3k=24? pano po nangyari dun? medyo naguluhan po ako ehehehe

Hello PoTAtO 😊 To solve 9 + 3k = 24, isolate k on one side of the equation. Add -9 on both sides (or transpose 9 to other side) 9 + (-9) + 3k = 24 + (-9) 3k = 15 Divide both sides by 3. 3k/3 = 15/3 k = 5

Hello Cristalpearl 😊 In 27 - 36 + 3k + 18 = 24, 27 - 36 + 18 = 9. 9 + 3k = 24 Add -9 on both sides. 3k = 15 Divide both sides by 3. k = 5
