I have lived in both. You are spot on in your assessment. Each to their own, but the cost of living, in my opinion, is the major plus for VA Beach. I am also someone who prefers four seasons.

I'm a Californian, born and raised and yes, the Pacific ocean is cold ALL year long lol. You can definitely get in the water without a suit, most do, but the surfers do tend to where suits. The 4 seasons of Virginia sound amazing tbh. California is wonderful, but it's so expensive here as you've pointed out. Virginia Beach sounds like a dream to raise a family tbh and I hope to move there one day soon. Thank you for the video 😊

hi Dan, another Dan here. Glad I came across this video in my feed today. I live in San Diego and plan to move in 1-2 years. Virginia Beach area is the primary place that my gf and I are considering for relocation. I like coastal, i like warm water, and I like seasons. Heck I even like the Navy. San Diego is a lot drier that I prefer and my gf loves snow. I'll probably be doing some scouting trips over there in '23 so I'll keep you in mind as we get closer. Thanks for the great info!

This was awesome, the stats are very helpful. I’m dual military and live bi coastal between DC and San Diego. I also go TDY Ft Story Virginia Beach from May - September every year. I fell in love with Va Beach because it still has a California beachy vibe but more affordable. I also feel it’s more culturally diverse civilian wise. My husband is Navy and I’m Army, he’s retiring soon. We are trying to decide weather to stay in San Diego or move to Virginia Beach.

As someone who is born and raised in San Diego, I’m trying to find an area in Virginia that reminds me closest to home since my husband wants to move back to Virginia. I came across this video because Virginia Beach has caught my eye. I’m visiting in May this year to see what Virginia Beach is all about! Your video was super helpful. It doesn’t make me feel as nervous now moving to an area that’s so far from home. :)

I’d say the 757 area is the southern version of the Bay Area. Richmond is Sacramento but way more dangerous. And Nova which is northern Virginia right outside the nation’s capital is like LA

Not a factor between VA and CA: Seven states tax military retirement pay fully and offer little to no tax benefits for retirement income: California, Georgia, Montana, Rhode Island, Utah, Vermont, and Virginia.

I have a very serious concern about this personal property tax BULLSHIT on my vehicles. How do they determine the "assessed values" for my vehicles in the first place for them to fuck me with this additional tax each fucking year? I have a 2016 Challenger Scat Pack (which they could 'blue book value' but it's customized) and a 1967 Camaro SS that is completely custom, how are they supposed to pick a value for these? I'm not looking forward to getting raped out of over $8,000 dollars every year

Your 67 Camaro would qualify for a exemption in VA due to age. Considered a Antique vehicle

I was thinking 🤔 of moving to Virginia Beach. But I thought about the rodents that probably come up ⬆️ from the water and infest the neighborhoods.
