Yes, it's exciting to have some new options to chose from! Thanks for watching!
I first came to SF in 1983. I retired in 2022. The ambiance of the city had changed several times over and lost its soul. While the scenery is one of the best in the world, the politics and quality of life is in many ways lower compared to the vibrant cities of Asia. Its expensive, parking is hard to find, filty, infrastructure are crumbling, muni buses are dirty with rude drivers, most food shops are gone, crime is high, public city service is a joke, etc. etc. If you are young with stars in your eyes and fantasize a " great " future, by all means try your luck. But I am too old and have seen countless people whose dreams were crushed by the hype of San Francisco. Good luck.
This is a great video!
The best way to get around the city under 3 miles is an electric scooter (your own). I used to take Caltrain in from the peninsula and then scooter all over the city. Better than driving. Besides your car will get broken into

Agree! That's a great option!
The entire southeastern area including East Cut (I really hate that name), South Beach, Mission Rock, etc. is built on landfill and will have really bad liquefaction in the next earthquake.

Every one of those buildings is anchored to bedrock and is designed to withstand a higher magnitude earthquake than your single story house. The only one that wasn't built already anchored to bedrock, the Millennium tower, started leaning and was also anchored to bedrock last year.
In the past 25 years, I’ve lived in the inner Richmond, Hayes Valley, and SOMA. While I love love love the inner Richmond, getting to the freeway took forever. I really enjoyed living a block from the 6th street 280 freeway entrance. During the pandemic, it only took me 35 minutes to get to Palo Alto by car. Might take longer now but I don’t think it gets too bad there. Also used to live on Fell and Laguna when the old freeway exit was there. Love the neighborhood but I’d do anything to avoid getting on the freeway from Octavia.

Thank you for sharing your experiences!
Can't wait to get 9 acres of parks in that area!

Agree! It will be amazing!
Portola is a great neighborhood that no one talks about, MUNI runs directly to downtown and it has easy access to 101/280 north and south. It’s also a very quiet neighborhood with lots of restaurants and shops off San Bruno Ave., and close to the second largest park in SF, McLaren Park.

What about geologic activity and Earthquakes? Are these new developments built on solid ground?

Earthquakes are so rare in sf.

Actually, a lot of the area where the high-rises are is in liquefaction zone, but many of them, though not all of them have drilled down to bedrock. We could help guide you through that on a case by case basis if it’s something that’s important to you.

Those areas would be really bad in an earthquake due to liquefaction. I prefer to avoid it. Where I live in the Haight, there are still homes that were built in the 1890s.
Google is leaving One Market.

To consolidate into the Spear St offices just a block away…

Correct, you could throw a rock from one market and hit a number of towers that Google operates out of.
