@10:20 Adam is right about this. My first experience with automotive wiring (at 14yrs old) was installing a head unit, luckily i bought an adaptor harness so all i had to do was match the wire colors. Since then, i've installed full stereo setups (head unit, upgrade all speakers to components, 4 channel amp, multiple subwoofers and amps) in about 12 different vehicles i've owned since then, and many many friends and family vehicles. When i was 18 i started doing engine swaps, and had to learn how do the engine harness the right way (yup, almost burned my e30 to the ground when i did the harness wrong). Now i'm 35 and i dont hesitate to open up a harness and find problems, its almost relaxing. You'll never learn anything if you dont dive into it

@7:37 am i the only one who got the taylor swift reference from mike ? happy to see my boy adam happy, on to better things man .... dodged a huge bullet there...🤣🤣🤣
I said this in the last video, but since I install subs etc professionally for work I really loved this video haha. The tuning portion absolutely killed me. If you didn’t figure it out yet, it was cutting out because the amp was probably clipping and the more that happens will probably cause the amp to go into protect mode. Turn down the gain, set the low pass frequency to about 80hz. Not sure what all tuning that amp has but as long as your amp isn’t maxed the subs n amp will be safe lol. Grab a bass knob for the amp so you have independent control over it without needing to run to the trunk and turn down the bass or turn down the speakers bass through the radio. Also, throw some BlackHole sound dampening in the trunk lid and inside the door frames to clean the bass sound!
@TheRealMrRoyal

Problem is the prime amps don't really have enough power for the p3 subs so they will clip way earlier than the punch series or T power series amps. He'll definitely have to run it at a lower gain and higher pass than you normally would on 12's 80-100hz instead of 40-50hz. This amp won't handle the low lows at full gain. It probably puts out 600rms and depending on how he has the dvc subs wired a bit more or less. If he got the T series amp he could pound them all day no problem.

@@REH86 haha ok. Maybe I didn't explain it the best but done car audio for over 20 years. If he the subs are clipping and cutting out he's either getting distortion causing it to go into protect mode or he wired it wrong. Well he fixed it by turning the gain down so wasn't the wiring. Also could be to low impedence depending how that box is wired with 2 2ohm subs.

@@TheKaneo1 yeah definitely worth doing. I think he'll be ok since such a short run length with the battery in the trunk too but better not to risk it.
A possible suggestion would be to use Audio Control's line out converter with bass restoration. Factory head units pull bass at higher volumes to prevent speakers from blowing. Also you'll gain a remote bass knob so you can adjust the bass to what you want at the time.

Thanks for this, it was a nostalgic ride for me as well. My friends and I did the same stuff growing up and thought it was so cool and unique. I really felt that when you were sorta underwhelmed. We just did a radio and speaker install for a friend and it wasn’t as exciting as it used to be.

Car audio in the early 2000s was the best. I still remember buying my first set of MTX thunders from Circuit City. How times have changed 😔
This was a super cool and chill video, love the garage stuff!
Its actually unreal my first car is a E46 325i and my first mods were sub woofer and angel eyes (closely followed by a short shifter lol). Now I've got a E82 135i as a second car and I've got say, a crusty BMW is an awesome first car to get into cars. The problems and the community/mod support both mix well enough to allow someone to grow if they're just entering the car community.
Wow these videos compared to the old ones are amazing the background music everything I have been watching since the 335i and love watching this channel turn into a masterpiece! 🎉
Soooo, I was at work when I was watching your videos working on this car and today I’m at work 10 years later watching this again. Wild hahah! Proud of you Adam!

i bought my first car last june, my 05' 325i, it makes me so happy to see you with your first one as well.
Loved every second of it. Please make them as long as possible. More project E46 please!
I'm getting a bit up there in age, 58, but I still love it loud and love shaking the car. I mostly listen to rock and the classics. I have ported single 12 on a Rockford 500 watt amp. (642 on the birth sheet) My limitation is making sure it works with stock electrical. Also I keep the seat down to let a lot more bass in. :)
I spat my drink out when you said ‘A Milli by Lil Wayne’ was your test song. Never have I felt something so deeply relevant/nostalgic watching a KZread video. Exact same song we used when I was younger down here in Australia

cant believe I've been watching Adam lz for 10 years and my car loving journey started 12 years ago
Woah this takes me back. Love the video. One thing you could mess with is seeing if you can 3D scan the trunk and make slim sub boxes out of carbon or fiberglass/kevlar. You could get away with an 8 and a 6 with a long port tube that goes up and over the rear wheel well. The subs would sit in that little pocket the trunk makes. You'd get good bass but then still have room for your stuff. Back in the 00's we did it with aluminum foil, masking tape, and Meguiars Caranuba wax. We'd mask the whole trunk, aluminum foil in the area, wax the foil, then lay up really chunky chop mat. Then you'd build your mounts and box out of MDF on one side, fiberglass on the other so it tucks flush.
Nostalgia. Everyone wanna be flashy but you can’t beat it. 2:45 classic LZ. Chelsea Grin FTW 🔥😈
