LASIK vs ReLEx SMILE
Difference between LASIK and ReLEx SMILE:
Carl Zeiss Meditec Visumax femtosecond makes it the only femtosecond laser is accurate enough to perform laser eye surgery through a keyhole incision in the cornea without the need for creating a flap and disruption of the corneal nerves and tearfilm that results from flap creation in the standard LASIK technique.
My thoughts on the ReLEx SMILE eye surgery:
The device had contact with my eye for less than 40 seconds with extremely low contract force - I didn't feel it.
Through the whole procedure I didn't feel any pain. I felt effectively nothing and there was no red splodges left behind.
ReLEx smile surgery has been shown to have higher accuracy than older laser eye surgery techniques, like PRK and LASK, especially for higher prescriptions.
I had short-sightedness -4.50 D (diopter) and I also had astigmatism of 0.75 D on my left and right eye.
How much does this surgery cost?
About 3500 PLN/one eye

Nice video and fair play for answering lots of questions. I like the idea of RS over Lasik because it involves less of the cornea to be cut, and therefore less 'damage' if you can call it that. I am working a lot on computers at the minute so I will wait until I leave my job I think. Thanks!

My vision wasn't perfect for about a month. But definitely mention it when you see your doctor. You can use mobile and laptops, but take breaks often. Your vision still needs to recover so your eyes will get tired more often than before the surgery. So for the first month, take lots of walks outside, try to look far away often, don't look at screens too often, try to close your eyes as often as possible. Use drops that your doctor recommended.

Now it’s been 2 months now, my vision is still blurry, at night I have got hazy/ glares vision which is annoying while driving. But no dry eyes really. You have to be at least 22 years old and have your eyes pretty much matured and stable. So you still have time to go until you’re able to get it done. I’m 26 and I’m planning on getting smile surgery. So don’t worry. I’m very surprised that a doctor would suggest that, knowing that eyes are still growing and maturing until like the mid 20s.

Nope, I didn't. I don't need to wear reading glasses. My vision at night needs a little bit more time to adapt to low light - although I start to think it might be a result of using super bright OLED screens all the time. When I don't use my smartphone that often my vision is super sharp day/night.

I can’t realy read from far, I wore my glasses when I was 8 years old, so I don’t remember how the “perfect clear vision” looks like! So just for my gut, I am going to book an appointment with an optometrist to check my vision and if I need glasses.. I don’t have dry eyes really, sometimes I get because I work in my laptop for 8hours and use phone. Hazy/ glares vision at night/ evening is still there, I think I should leave with that forever… I will see my surgeon again in August for my one year post appointment, so I will raise all these and update you again.

I had huge panic attacks in first weeks because of my extremely slow recovery. To update you guys. Its now 3 years since surgery. I have been wearing glasses since 6months post surgery. The vision is appalling, and I am more dependant on glasses than before the surgery. But much worse is the irreversible damage to my now dysfunctional eyes. The surgeon Alex Shortt said I was a great candidate. But in reality I was not. The industry is not regulated and surgeons use human eyes as commercial gain. Please read up on Dr Moris Waxler who led the FDA team who approved laser eye surgery. He now is campaigning to have it banned. My life is ruined. Please do not repeat my mistake.
