Yup, definitely soft-spoken is better than whispering. When I hear whispering I feel the hairs on the back of my neck stand up and it gives me a creepy feeling.

I actually love the fact that you're calmly whispering or keeping a low voice. Idk, I can't get into ASMR like most ppl tend to these days. For me it's like you hear someone chewing loudly and it makes you cringe. That's totally me with ASMR. XD So thank you so much Josh!!! As someone that doesn't like to miss any of your videos (you're one of the few I got notification's bell on for!), it was a pleasure to listen to you talk about these set of cards! Karuta is perfect for not knowing japanese because that is the whole entire point its for studying the sounds that make up the language. I guess by extension the characters but person A(usually your instructor) yells out one like "ka" and you and a competitor compete to get the card first. This set is amazing because youd have the boring side up and the art is your true reward. I hope you dont give up on these. I know theyre niche but they keep me coming back year after year. These and to mourn the memory of Make Believe.

And I remember Labelle just as easy because she's the odd one out by looking fancy-French and you pronounce the simple word 'label' fancy-French too: 'La Belle' Get it? "La Belle", I think, means 'is beautiful'. At least 'belle' means 'beautiful'

The way how I remember is their initials. Sable is always sewing, and Mable is the marketer that's trying to get you interested.

Maybe it'd ruin the cards a little, but wouldn't it be rad to put NFC chips on the back of these cards and turn them INTO amiibo? I agree with you, these are just so much more stylish. Almost makes me wish they'd do a new amiibo card series with... actual artwork instead of renders?

Amiibo cards, (and NFC cards in general), are such wasted potential. I hope they do bring them back some day!!

Try downloading the google translate app on your phone. You can hold the camera up to Japanese writing and it translates it to English on the screen. I use it for all the animal crossing crap I ship over from Japan like books and magazines. It’s also good for Japanese snack packaging like ingredients and the funny little things they put on the packages. Fun!🤗
