Today's ride is from a recent trip to Dauphin Island in Alabama USA. There had been several days of heavy rain so I was in for a surprise as I rode the island. The strangest thing about the island is the general acceptance of the spelling on the name. A "Dauphin" is the eldest male heir to the French throne and the island was named after Louis XIV of France's great-grandson and heir, the dauphin, the future Louis XV of France. Yet all over the island People reference Dauphin simply as "Dolphin" and many of the Island arts and stores feature the sea mammal and not references to the French crown?!?!? It’s known for stretches of white sand, like Public Beach. At the entrance to Mobile Bay, 19th-century Fort Gaines features original cannons and a blacksmith shop. Migrating birds can be seen in the forest, dunes and swamp of the Audubon Bird Sanctuary. The Dauphin Island Sea Lab's Estuarium offers aquariums and a living marsh boardwalk. Man this is bizarre as hell for me. I remember watching you way back in the begainning of spy tutorials when I was barely getting into TF2. After maining Spy and well getting my fill of TF2 I sorta just drifted away from the channel. Coming back here once in a while when I got the TF2 itch and relearning spy tricks. You've mostly stayed the same, just change of games, but actually seeing something like this. It makes me notice how many of the older youtubers I see are calming down to mellow out more. Like they reached a peak and just sorta wanna focus on their life for a time. Now I don't know what you want to do in the future for this channel but all I want to say is thanks for helping me main Spy Mr.Paladin. Those old vids helped me even though I suck at any trickstab.

@@martinnieva8484 Haha, Dauphin islands nice but its pretty quiet unless theres a festival going on. There's only one restaurant and its a subway lol. There's actually a ferry on the east side that takes you to a much livelier beach, Gulf Shores. They do have an indian archaeological site and a nice aquarium though.

@@isbeb507 But it's a pretty quiet place..? Uhh, that's amazing. Hmm, but maybe it gets really "unnerving" for a long time to not be hearing anything home-wise.. I really don't know. The only thing that I'd worry about is about the prices, do you have to be some sort of millionaire to live there or not? Because you know, touristic places are quite expensive

I have some fond early memories of that area. My grandparents used to spend the summer in Orange Beach and we would go down every summer for a week or so. Being right out next to the ocean was just mind-blowing for me as a child. Always mean to visit the place again when I'm older.

Oh, awesome. Opposite end of AL from me, but I went to school for a year at Spring Hill College. Very nice place. The thing about the spelling of "Dauphin" is really cool and makes sense; Spring Hill was amongst the first of Jesuit Catholics in America and the area, being so close to the New Orleans area, attracted a bunch of French Catholics. Mobile, AL is another HUGE Mardi Gras area during that time. Really cool!! Love your vids a lot. Still trying to get a grasp on the Dead Ringer, though.😂😂
