Perm and water 💧 don't mix so if you wear a perm you must blow dry and wear your hair dry and not wet and you can achieve healthy hair with weekly oil and conditioning treatments. I would strongly caution you about relaxers. As a former relaxer user and have been natural for 8+ years, there has been significant evidence of a direct link of relaxers causing cancer and fibroids. I had 13 fibroids removed via myomectomy and I strongly believe the chemicals contributed to the formation thereof. I strongly believe the reason Black women have fibroids more than other ethnicities is because of relaxers. Self-hate of our hair is more profitable on many levels for the opposition.

And they say you can’t have healthy relaxed hair!! Honey y’all better stop letting social media make y’all feel like you “have to” be natural! Her hair is beautiful!! 🥰🥰
@teshamiller6001
Жыл бұрын
You can’t, but there are ways you can prep it and care for it to make it “appear” beautiful and healthy. The reason relaxers straighten hair is because they literally burn the disulfide bonds in the curl, permanently breaking them, rendering the hair shaft straight, so relaxed hair by it’s very nature, is technically damaged hair. Relaxers have also been proven to cause cancers of the reproductive system and follicle death. That being said, if you don’t wear your curls, you don’t care about burning the protein bonds. 🤷🏾♀️As long as women love their hair and themselves it shouldn’t be a debate. It’s a matter of personal preference. Stating the scientific facts about a hair relaxer doesn’t always equate to thinking women have to be natural. It’s just stating what is proven for those who want to live a natural lifestyle and feel that their reproductive health is important enough to not use certain products. The education really isn’t for women who use hair relaxers and don’t plan on being natural.

The weird thing is, if anyone actually bothered to read the study that spawned this whole "relaxer causes cancer" thing, they would notice that the subjects of the study were women whose sisters previously had breast cancer - meaning they are probably already genetically predisposed to developing cancers. They would also have read the part where the researchers themselves said relaxer use correlated with a minute increase in the risk of developing cancer (like less than 1% or something, I can't recall the actual number), and they said *lifestyle factors* are a far greater cause of cancer. But everybody running around like chicken little trying to ruin someone's enjoyment of their hair. 🤦♀️

Perm and water 💧 don't mix so if you wear a perm you must blow dry and wear your hair dry and not wet and you can achieve healthy hair with weekly oil and conditioning treatments. No wash and goes because the hair will break and be thin because perm and water are a no no .

Ooooh a girl who understands that healthy relaxed hair takes the same amount of work as natural hair!! Your hair looks lovely sis.

@teshamiller6001
