Just a note on those new humistats, the model you showed requires the installation of one more wire. Sometimes that is not a viable option, but I do agree on your intention. I prefer the Whisper Green models as they don't ever shut off they simply lower the fan speed. As the name suggests they are very quiet, although you will pay more for that option. Great video, I like the fact you are always trying to educate your viewers as well as your clients with correct facts and not unjustified opinions. Keep up the good work.

May I ask a question about humidity? My crawlspace floor is Anchorage, Alaska, is covered with thick Visqueen. The crawlspace is not vented, and the humidity was always 60 to 70 percent in the summer. A power vent (repurposed bathroom fan) was installed in the rim joist, and a 6 inch hole was cut in one of the furnace return air ducts in the crawlspace to provide air flow. This setup did not reduce the humidity in the crawlspace. Any ideas? BTW, there is no sign of mold or mildew in the 14 year old house's crawlspace. For 8 months of the year, the humidity down there is about 35%.

most summer days in the north east are in the 60%+ humidity range so these units don't do much unless locatee inside a batbroom with lots of steam from hot showers

Tom we live in Minnesota and most of the humidistats I see control humidifiers that add humidity to the air versus humidistats to control a fan to remove it.

My home is very dry in the winter. I do not currently have a humidifier on my furnace as I removed the old one that leaked. Never have a problem with humidity in the summer.

Tom, in your expert opinion, is a good bathroom fan hooked up to a humidistat good enough to control the humidity levels in a 1500 square foot rancher??? Thanks for any advice you can share. 👍🏻🇨🇦🍻

What if the humidity outside is more than it is inside, like during especially muggy days?

We have electric baseboard heaters in our 1986 home, no humidifier at all. But it's extremely dry in here most of the year due to electric heating anyways.

I tried that Levitron switch you illustrated in your video... Save your money folks. It's garbage. Just buy and install the first Broan Humidistat that was first shown in this video.

What if the humidity is 80%+ outside? Blowing air out of the house then will just suck in high humidity air. I don’t understand.
