@@steroacorn Did you even make it past season 1?! Rei is still the most dedicated friend and protector of all the guardians. Character development can happen. Rei was the first one she told in Stars that Mamoru had not contacted her, not knowing that Mamoru had died. Rei took a shot in front of her, dying in her arms when Galaxia killed her. Rei is just as protective of her friend and Princess as the others are.

I love her saying "Wake up, honey!" So sassy.

I really miss this unique dynamic with the inner senshi that only Usagi and Rei had in the 90's anime. They bickerd in a funny friendly way... but when things got serious, Rei was always willing to sacrifice her life for Usagi in a heartbeat. Crystal is better in many aspects I admit... but friendship wise... the inner senshi and Usagi are all just kinda there with each other..

Honestly I cant think of any aspect in which crystal is better, character, cinamtagriphy, story, art, direction. The new version just showed me that the original got famous because a very clever director in the background turned water into wine and acted like the manga was a grand thing when it was simple at best. Crystal was a complete disappointment and a shadow of what the 90s show was. The greatest let down was the girls loss of character and unique attributes especially serena herself, who went from a lovable ditsy girl with a heart of gold to... a blank slate that trips alot? REI was also a huge hit to me, she was my favorite and just acted aloof at all times, her cheeky nature totally gone?! I kept asking myself what is this trash? Where are the scouts I know and love?! The other scouts lost their fire as well but rei and serena hurt me the most, their close and unique friendship was special and it was practically nonexistent now. They where just there.🤮

@@mishaelcalhoun1165 Sailor Moon Crystal was literally made because the anime from the 90's wasn't faithful to the manga. Many things were done differently and the lack of the adaptation of the last chapter did not contribute.

I love rei! She’s such a great character, and she especially improves towards the end of season 1, when they all died and she said “y’know, I really liked fighting with you, usagi.” I thought that that was a perfect example of their friendship!

I really love how in the 90s anime they had a big sister/little sister dynamic. They always bickered and said mean things to each other, but despite that they cared deeply for each other.

What’s interesting is that both share feelings for their loved ones (Vegeta/Bulma, Rei/Yuichiro), even if they keep it hidden. Way to generalize aries😂 it’s just that she’s sailor mars, a fire planet. So she has a fiery personality(just like the rest have a personality matching their planet). Mars rules scorpio(with pluto after more planets were added) and aries, doesn’t mean she has to be like any of those signs. Edit: I forgot her birthday is in april making her an aries ffs my bad. She never gave me aries vibes though.

I agree. This dynamic reminds me of Ben and Gwen in the OG Ben 10 series. You have two people constantly arguing, where one is more laid-back and less serious, and the other is uptight and really serious. I don't get why people think it's an appealing dynamic because it gets old and kind of annoying. I'm glad they fixed this in the later Ben 10 shows and Sailor Moon Crystal, where Ben and Gwen care for each other without being a complete jerk to the other person, and Usagi and Rei don't argue as much in Crystal.
