it is fascinating to me how this spider displays crab leg joints on its carapace.. its like a crab left the water and grew an abdomen to carry its water around . nice spiders :)

Thank you for a great demonstration on how to observe and 'read your spider'. Every posture and movement tells a story, and each spider was different. You know a lot about their behavior and can anticipate their reactions; you make it easy to understand. This was a fascinating video.

Here in Australia, the Sydney Funnel-Web spider is the most dangerous and they are super aggressive. Very scary spider. Those Japanese Funnel-webs are crazy big. I'd move out if I lost that in the house 💀. You have nerves of steel! Facts!

I upgraded the homes of 1 Brachypelma Boehmei, 1 Brachypelma Hamorii and 1 Pterinopelma Sazimai today in the way you do it and it went calm, in order and stress free for anyone 😂. I transferred the Brachypelma Hamorii into a kind of transport cup and she walked in it very gently and did not not move while I moved that cup over to her new larger enclosure.Amazing . (To general readers: don't copy please- i have a degree in animal behaviour and have had over 40 years of experience in observing behaviour and would not have done it that way if I would have seen any unsettled reaction in her.She was calm walking into the cup, didn't moved a limp while sitting inside and being gently moved into the larger enclosure and walked out calmy.)

This one reminds me of several lines from the movie "Arachnophobia." Mostly where he says "Most people have that switch in their brain that helps them overcome their fear of Spiders, I don't have that switch!" I know I shouldn't fear them, I know. But my body doesn't listen to my mind. It is ready to run. Watching you is really the only way I'd want to observe them.

I love the variety of your collection, I do miss the T seladonia they are so beautiful, when one your egg sac hatched she had so many babies and she keep closing her little hatch with her back leg, you were in love with them, once I get more experience and rob a bank I will be getting some! Good to see an update on the funnel webs! Regarding how a few just naturally perish, and that's just the way of things, there's an analogy among us record collectors: Of course we like to keep our records in good condition, but when I hear people fretting about some tiny blemish in the vinyl, I like to tell them, if you've never dropped a record before, you're bot a real collector!

Dave can you do a video on the importance of pulling eggsacs and manually incubating. Many think because they are only round and no eggs they are infertile. Exotics lair channel just posted this and i fear he may have discarded his eggs thinking they are infertile. I pulled my pamphobeteus last week(34days) no legs. Only yellow balls. Pinched closed the sac and manually incubated and week later we have eggs. I fear many assume 34 days and no legs its an infertile sac. I think the speed of development comes down to temps and species. I feel you have a bigger audience to help spread the word. As always dave love your content

I even posted on my instagram of two photos, when i first pulled my pamphobeteus south equador sac and a week later. Pic1 just showed yellow smooth eggs, week later is pic2 properly incubated with warm temps and high humidity and now the eggs are showing legs. Also i just paired my platyomma and after almost 2 hours of no movement they finally paired for 20 minutes and he inserted twice, got him out safe too. Lets hope she doesnt molt like the last pairing with another male. Who died shortly after and couldnt pair him again. “Look at that for a beautiful spider!” 😂😅 Yeah can’t say I agree with you there, Dave, lol. But many thanks for continuing to post content that is easy to watch, even when the spider is as creepy as a funnel web (my worst fear, tbh). When I watch your videos, your calm demeanor and passion for your animals overcomes my fear and it momentarily turns to fascination. Trying my best to love spiders, but can’t say that I’m quite there yet. Cheers.

Shiny black can also make you think:" Oh, a luxurious one, with all that piano lacquering on..."😉🎹

I always enjoy your videos Dave! And also the work of camera lady! Just a question regarding safety. Wouldn't it be safer to use a tool like long pliers to put the water bowl in tight plastic boxes? I was a bit concerned when you put the water bowl inside the plastic box, so close to the spider. I've seen 16" long duckbill nose pliers that are ideal for situations like this.

Just wondering why there is no lip on the shelves housing all the critters. I believe the UK does get earthquakes so how do you mitigate the tubs from sliding or jumping off. That would be a nightmare if a bunch fell off and then opened. I'd be afraid to open the door to the room😅

Our earthquakes are a bit like our venomous wildlife; absolutely nothing on the Americas and Asia. During the last one some years ago, not even a single of my precariously stacked CDs fell off.

I do have to say that any funnel web spider absolutely terrifies me 😢 i dont know if it is because i live in Australia and they dont have a great reputation here or if it is the way the spider looks but when i see those long black shiny legs i get goosebumps lol I had so many jumps scares while watching this video i didnt think i was going to get through it but i stuck with it til the end i just hope i dont have nightmares because ive been busy today so ive only just sat to watch some youtube and its 3:10am Still a great video guys 😊👍🏻

Well only 10 to 15 percent of all bites are actually venomous. Most bites are defense and quick and just scrape the skin when it comes to humans. They're just too scared of humans
