A young and active prosthetic leg user shares is experiences during rehabilitation. His therapist and his orthotic and prosthetic technician explain what's important during rehabilitation with a prosthetic leg. They talk about how to take the first steps with a mechatronic leg prosthesis. The user describes his feelings, expectations and challenges he faced during the gait training and therapy sessions. For example when his therapist went outdoors with him and trained him how to handle stairs and slopes. The therapist explains how he starts and plans the rehabilitation for each patient. What he oberserves is that for people with a leg amputation, safety is a priority. At the beginning it is important to gain a feeling of safety which is the main challenge during the rehabilitation phase to gain trust into the prosthesis. Step by step, the user learns how to move outside and to deal with daily challenges like stairs or slopes. During the rehabilitation phase the O&P professional collaborates with the therapist. The O&P professional focuses on the prosthesis and adapts it to the users needs from the technical side, while the therapist knows exactly how to support the user and get the most out of the prosthetic training. The therapist and the O&P professional are supporting the user to reach the highest possible mobilty and individual quality of life.

Wow. I wish I had a team as yours to work with. As a double amputee I gave to do it all in my own. It is very challenging and sometime frightening. My stumps are long and shirt. One above the knee, the other below the knee. Given time I will overcome. I am impressed with the video. I have learned a lot. Just trying to stand up and move off. BLESSINGS

I’m waiting for the scar to heal before moving to the first casting. I’ve requested the c-leg. If insurance doesn’t cover it, second choice will be the 3R80. Videos like this help me feel like I can achieve walking again. It’ll just take time.

Hi from Mexici: I knew for the very first time how safe the 3R80 joint aee but I was not that sure about myself and my ability to handle it on my dayli duties. After 5 years I'm still learning, It's been a day by day work.

Hello I'm a AKA I just recently 2weeks been fitted with an 3r78 knee,struggling only can walk btwn parallel bars,and forearm crutches,still learning to balance straight,afraid to let my hands free from the bars and crutches incase I fall over.Do u walk unaided?if yes.How long did it take u to walk freely without holding or using anything to hold u walking normally?

Because I had a friend whose disability and leg was in an accident that resulted in his left leg amputation. Now that he's got a fake foot but not that sophisticated I guess "a fake foot that's a min And I live in Indonesia 🇮🇩🇮🇩
