Rehabilitation of Mangrove Ecosystem| Coastal Livelihoods and Environmental Management Project

Destruction of mangroves at the coastline has had negative effects on the environment. Unfortunately, the farms have been degraded due to harvesting of firewood and charcoal burning.
As a result, communities are exposed to the high speed waves that also brings salinity to the farms.
Plan International Kenya, through the Coastal Livelihoods and Environmental Management Project collaborated with the National Government, County Government and local communities to rehabilitate 64 hectares of mangrove environment. This was through building capacity on seedlings and planting of mangroves aimed at protecting the mangrove ecosystem.
