I genuinely think the main strength of Kyogre teams this format is you get to have a rain setter that isn't weak as shit next to an archaludon. Every new Pokemon that checks Kyogre loses to the bridge in rain.

Further on Gen2 stat borrowing, the Cyndaquil line all have the same exact stats as the Charmander line Not "same numbers but shuffled", literally the exact same stats in all the same places Though, my personal favorite stat tidbit is that all the Eeveelutions also share the same stat numbers but shuffled around And Glaceon's stat distribution still makes me mad :^)

​@@WhimsicottFanatic It's not just Cyndaquil. Venusaur and Meganium as well as Feraligatr and Blastoise all have the same base stat values, but shuffled. They just swapped defense and special attack for meganium and moved the Attack and Special defense as well as HP and special attack for Blastoise had for Feraligatr around.

My money is that Groudon is gonna be a sleeper good pick. Sun setter. Zacian, Miraidon, and Incineroar are not gonna wanna switch into it’s p blades, and with AV and excellent physical bulk, it can take any neutral hit while the big grass attackers like Rillaboom and Ogerpon are gonna have a hard time chunking it especially with intimidate support. Koraidon is stronger, but the typing and bulk I think are gonna be valuable nonetheless, not to mention I feel Groudon Flutter teams will have a good MU into Koraidon Flutter teams (any sort of Tera Koraidon can go for to resist Fairy Moves will be hit hard by ground)

If it makes MJ feel better, both forms of Giratina were butt even before it was massively powercrept. Also I have a feeling that even though Kyogre has more checks than ever, that at least in the first few tournaments it will remain as popular a choice on teams as its ever been.

34:54 Huh, didn’t realise regular Solgaleo doesn’t get D Dance. Dusk Mane gets D Dance if I’m remembering correctly. It really is just a direct upgrade over Solgaleo. And then Dawn Wings is a downgrade for Lunala. Perfectly balanced, as all things should be. I’ve been doing a fair few calcs (since I can’t sleep right now) and I’ve only seen a few Pokémon able to truly deal with Dialga-O so far. One of them is Brian Hands, who is truly built differently and just ignores Dialga-O. Another is, surprisingly, Latios with Tera Steel, who completely walls Dialga-O. And then Ho-oh with a probably pretty cursed stat spread that I came up with at 4:15 AM of: 20 HP, 252 Atk, 76 Def and 156 Sp.Def it wins against the Dialga-O shown in the video basically every time and 2 shots it (if Tera Fairy) with Brave Bird. Otherwise Tera Fire Sacred Fire is a roll to two shot non Tera Dialga-O without Sun, who struggles to three shot it in return with Draco Meteor, and struggles to do the same with Earth Power. I have yet to run any Calyrex or Zacian calcs though Well max Attack and Speed Jolly Zacian Crowned OHKO’s Dialga-O with either Close Combat or Behemoth Blade. Add another to the list of Dialga-O counters, especially as it doesn’t die in one hit to anything Dialga does should say, Trick Room be up. Caly-Ice could potentially one shot with a Swords Dance, but it’s fairly even. If no TR, Caly-Ice loses more often than not. And Caly-Shadow is a roll to one shot by Draco Meteor and a guaranteed OHKO of Tera Fairy while not being able to get a kill on Dialga-O from the calcs I’ve done even with 252 Sp.Atk, Modest and Choice Specs. It gets 2HKO’s, but in return is almost always one shot by Dialga-O. Oh and Miraidon is a roll to OHKO every time with Specs Electro Drift or Draco Meteor, so unless you have TR or are willing to sack a redirect to roll a kill on the Miraidon (unless it doesn’t Tera, then just don’t miss Draco) you can kiss Dialga-O goodbye.

Side note: give mewtwo an ability that makes it immune to dark moves. Would be sick.

the koraidon flutter matchup seems really annoying to me. they speed tie and one shot eachother, and koraidon can tera fire but power gem will ko. so you're gonna have a speed creep ev war, you'll both choose between band/scarf or speed/spa boost, likely end up speed tying, then have a guessing game over whether koraidon teras. koraidon will win on average because flare blitz always kills even if flutter uses a defensive tera, but im expecting a lot of games to come down to a 75/25 dice roll thanks to these two

Regulation G is Oranguru's time to shine. Instruct with these restricted mons about to go crazy.

Kyurem-W, Necrozma-DM, and Weezing might become more relevant thanks to Terapagos. All three counter Terapagos with either their abilities or moves. Also, Weezing in particular becomes more viable since CalyShadow and CalyIce are immune to neutralizing gas.

Kyurem loses the terapagos matchup 9/10. I ran a blizz spam Kyurem team in showdown and lost every terapagos match up. Oddly enough, won every Miraidon matchup.

@@Altered999 I might try it again tonight. I built him to be chunky with trick room as an option since 95 base speed is never outspeeding Koraidon. Blizzard kills almost every legendary, but I don’t think I ever got it off against Terapagos.

It’s still more diverse than the last single restricted format, but it will inevitably be less diverse than Reg F or double restricted formats. Glad it’s coming before the double restricted format (unlike in Gen 8), though. The impact of slightly less diversity will be partially mitigated by the new toy syndrome.

In theory, you could use sub on your terapagos as well. Now since I don’t know about this second suggestion, please correct me if this isn’t allowed, but using shed tail into terapagos gives you like 2 turns of free calm mind. Then, once they break the sub, just tank out one more attack and calm mind or tera and use tera starstorm and delete your enemies. Now like I said before idk if shed tail is banned, but if it isn’t, it’s actually stupid that you can do that.

Tailwind stela waterspout will always be a threat and is something I feel like you can almost just kinda brute force

I'm extremely excited for double restricted because a lot of the lower power restricteds have immense utility but aren't strong enough to be worth taking your one restricted slot. I'm extremely excited to use origin dialga as a tr setter that can tank a hit from and then ohko miraidon but without being able to put a restricted that does more damage next to it it's hard to justify.

You joke, but someone's going tp be so confident in their strat that they're going to bring 5 and a Cosmoem. They won't win, but they'll bring the Swag Cosmoem

Honestly think a lot of people are sleeping on Necrozma Dusk-Mane. Your base 3 moves in Photon Geyser/Sunsteel Strike/Knock Off creates a pretty much perfect triangle of coverage against what Calyrex-S wants to tera into. If they want to tera fairy, you've got Sunsteel to OHKO, if they tera Psychic for expanding force, you've got knock-off that has a chance of an OHKO - but if you tera dark then their expanding force does nothing anyways and you can do 2 turns of damage to Calyrex for free anyways. If they go into the theoretical tera Fighting, you've got Photon Geyser. If they don't tera at all, Knock Off deletes Calyrex entirely. If they go tera water you don't OHKO, but then they've vulnerable to the rest of your team. With an Assault Vest, you can pretty much survive anything that the Calyrex can throw at you barring a good roll on a helping hand astral barrage, but if you tera into something like Dark (to negate both astral barrage/expanding force, while also empowering your Knock Off) then there's absolutely no way for Caly-S to get rid of Dusk-Mane. Even if you tera dark and they tera fairy draining kiss, with a choice band it's like 40% while you threaten an OHKO with Sunsteel.

They would just ban the restricted every match or if the opponent only had one counter to their team, they just ban it and get a free win. It completely invalidates the point of team building, if you don't get to choose what you play.
