I saw college-age Jason Kidd play in person with his Cal team against U Washington Huskies. Kidd was light years ahead of every guy on the floor in both skill and intensity. It was jaw-dropping. I think he was 19. Would be nice to have names. Most of teh video is pretty blurry. For some I can tell by style, but others are a mystery.

I remember a few years ago I was at this open run and this dude who was a G-LEAGUE bench player came through and he was fucking everybody up. His shot was so pure and he had the smoothest handle ever. To think this dude couldn't even get minutes on a G-League team. I wouldn't even wanna imagine playing against an NBA player lmao. Bro had me contemplating not going back to that gym again.

This reminded be of PE in school. Generally most people sucked and just barely could dribble, myself included. But there was this guy that went to basketball school. He wasn't taller than me or much bigger. But the way he moved, the speed. He probably hit 7 3s in span of 10 min. with people really trying their best to defend him, well at least at first. He would get his own rebound after missed shots and just try again, which was super morale killer. At some point we all just looked stunned as he was pulling for another and another 3.

Yep. Played a dude from my HS 1on1 who was in the lower levels… I felt helpless. 13-2 was final score and he called every single shot. It was not fun. I was going 110% panting and sh*t

I remember people thought they were better than Brian Scalabrine. The last guy that gets no minutes on an NBA bench is better than any guy that balls at the park all day. And Brian showed he was like LeBron James compared to them. The discipline, the training professional players go through is more rigorous. Ball is literally their life not a hobby. Always respect the non All Star players in the NBA because they actually made it.

In my 20s I played ball 7 days a week. I've played a handful of pick up games against NBA and D-1 guys that just came out to mess around at some parks where there's a good run. I had as much chance of stopping ANY of them as my 7 year old daughter would. The level they are on is insane.

I played in college and the difference between just a regular old player like me and someone who is NBA bound is insane. I played against John Wall and Demarcus Cousins the year they went #1 and #5 in the draft. Shit was comical how much better they were. Patrick Patterson and Eric Bledsoe were also on that team I believe. They could do anything you could do, but better, and faster.

@@silenthero2795 I think it was Scalabrine who said that in order to stay on the court you need to be thinking 3 moves ahead. You can't react to what is just in front of you. You gotta process and react in a split second or you get played off the court.

A lot of people do not realize the years of training, the burden, the travel, and the dedication that these professional basketball players have to go through. You have to be really, really good to play in the NBA. There are over 200 universities, European League, CBA, and other leagues and only 60 players get to be drafted in the NBA. On average, a player stay in the NBA for about 4 years and will get waived or released if they do not improve or someone else will take their spot on the roster. It is not a cakewalk for a player to be in the NBA. They be on the road for about nine months as well. It can be tiring, stressful, and very demanding for a player to maintain that playing level to stay in the league. Normal civilians look absolutely silly thinking they can hang with professional basketball players

The thing that never gets emphasized is the travel. Plane travel is exhausting! There's not enough oxygen, plus they jets are loaded with WiFi. Most people after a flight just want to sit down. Those guys are running up and down the court and leaping the next day.

They practice in the morning, play in the late afternoon or evening and get back on the plane to repeat the process. A player is exhausted or drained by the All-Star break. Charles Barkley, Michael Jordan even said that they rather stay home and relax instead of playing in the All-Star Game. Allen Iverson was even upset because he felt he had no time off during the All-Star break, and he had to play. Life in the NBA can be rough for players

You have to be very, very good to make it to the NBA as well as to make it a career. Normal civilians in this video playing against these professionals are literally getting themselves embarrassed

I used to play pickup games with Deron Williams for a couple summers as a kid. He was more obsessed, creative and skilled with the game at 11 and 12 than our group of friends who all ended up playing high school and some d3. It's a different mentality that gets them to that level, and most of the people that play D1 dont even have it.

I played a few D1 players at my college and by was I smoked. They ran circles around us, so I can only imagine what NBA players are like.

Videos like this reminds me of that old Brian Scalabrine series where he would find guys who said they could beat him online and would absolutely demolish them on the court. Keep in mind for those that don’t know or remember Scalabrine was your typical 12th man on the bench came in during garbage time type of player in the NBA.

One thing that you must remember is how much these guys train to play against each other (they all train at the highest level known to man). Follow this Line to put things in perspective: - An average NBA player is WAY better than an EuroLeague All Star (since lot of average NBA players become All-Stars when went to play there); - An average EuroLeague player is (usually) way better than a G-League MVP; - G-League players are usually better than most college All Stars (since few of drafted players actually make to some team's rotation); - An average D1 NCAA player is way better than most NBL (Australia) or even CBL (China) pro players; - An average NBL or CBL player would be usually way better than most NBB (Brazillian League) All-Stars; - A bench player at the worst Brazillian League team would ABSOLUTELY FUCK EVERYONE UP WITH EASE at your local basketball court. I know this becaus i saw this happening many times. I live in Brazil, and we know our league isn't strong, and our city's team isn't one of the best. Many times, bench players which barely ever played came to play in our public court, and they would absolutely destroy the best frequent players there without even trying or dropping a swet. And at their Instagram accounts or KZread, whenever they went to USA to vaccation and played at their local courts, same thing happened. They were absolutely better than us, and that they didn't even made a minute per game at one of the worst teams at the weakest professional leagues. That's how good NBA players actually are.

I played an NBA player in a preseason game in high school. It was Patrick Baldwin Jr and I shit you not he had 30 before half and sat the rest of the game. Made me realize the levels to the game and that I had no chance of competing at that level. Very humbling. Blessed for that experience.

The court gets so much smaller in a game against real hoopers. The ability they have to create space that you think didn’t exist is unreal. Before you can even anticipate a move, you’re back on offense lol

To be fair, NBA level PFs and centers like Imbiid could yam on smaller NBA guards as easily as on someone at the ymca. Thats not to take away from the fact that NBA players are exponentially better than the average player, but the sheer size distinction is worth mentioning.

Gotta think. These guys where top hoopers in the state, country, high school, college, better than the g league, passed the 2 year rookie boot, and cemented a spot in the top basketball stage in the WORLD.

I knew a guy who some workouts with our local NBA franchise and he said NBA players are much faster than they appear. Not always in terms of forward momentum. But the motions. The hands. The core. It's the isometrics. Muscle vs Muscle. That's why most guards in the NBA are incredibly ripped. People never train like that, you just burn too many calories. Stamina suffers. Risk of injury goes up. Our maximum ability to pump calories to our muscles boils down to genetic potential, and age. If you are young and genetically gifted you can push harder for longer before they cramp up. Unfortunately, most people over the age of 24 could NEVER carry enough fast twitch and still run the floor.

What makes it even more scary with these NBA players is they where all going like 25% in all these clips…

this is exactly why I always tell my friends , these nba players are levels ahead of us even the benchwarmers

Basketball is one of the sports where good hoopers could at least still look respectable against pros -- unlike Tennis, for instance, where you would get completely shut out. But there are definitely levels to it, and you can always tell when someone is used to playing with better, faster players, because they look like they're on easy mode but still killing it.

​@@kylschwartz1745 That's mostly true, but I'm 6'1", so I don't really feel out of place playing with guys up to maybe 6'4" or 6'5". And the pros never really give it their all at open runs at the gym, but that doesn't mean I still can't be a shooter and passer and high IQ guy that might earn a little bit of respect on the court. The point still stands that when it comes to some other sports, like Tennis, the disparity in talent is even more pronounced.

@@AlokSomani Not a chance. Even playing against college players there is a massive skill gap. Keep in mind they train at a much faster pace and do everything 10x times better and quicker. If you could pick how you wanted them to score on you they'd still score 9/10 times.

Even the worst nba players would still shit on the average people on us

People need to understand that you need to be born to be an NBA player, it's not like anyobody can pick up a ball and try their hardest and make it, you don't have a chance.

the game must be in super slow motion for pros against normal folk. They just anticipate the entire thing by instinct. So crazy how far that constant practice and hard work (and obvi natural talent) can get you. If you so much as suit up for the NBA you could run your local rec center until you dead and gone

basketball is the one sport that for some reason civilians think they actually could be a somebody and stuff like this video is beautiful to watch. average joes know they can't hit a 98mph fastball or run fit the a gap at the goal line against jerome bettis but every LA fitness superstar thinks they could get 20 and 10 on any given night in the association if only they got a look from the right scout 🤣

pros got those super duper shooters in regular ass situations. compared to the high intensity stress that come with nba games the local Y is a breeze
