Another good fight is between a souldrinker captain and the commisar of a penal legion. The commisar knew that he had no chance at killing an Astartes, so he simply tried to defend himself. He landed a single hit, wounding the Astartes before dying by the Space Marines hands. His last thought was "At least I managed to wound him. That is more then I had hoped for."

Everyone mentions the legendary coward Cain who squared up against multiple raging Khornate World Eaters. Now the novels are from his perspective and he constantly underplays his own achievements since he suffers from a serious case of imposter syndrome. But even with how much he underscores his own value, he went into melee with raging Khornate berserkers and won (albeit by primarily holding them off long enough for Jurgen to use a Melta). But if Cain is capable of squaring off long enough against a Khornate Space Marine who has been alive for 1000s of years and survive, he could reasonably defeat newer inexperienced Space Marines of Chapters/Legions who place less importance in Melee. After all, Cain was acknowledged and nearly defeated loyalist Marines in multiple friendly duels and was very well respected even by the Space Marine Chapters he worked with.

A great quote from Fallout is from Doctor House in reference to the Brotherhood of Steel. He speaks about how they acted arrogantly and proudly like the knights of yore in their armor but the NCR showed them that all their fancy armor and dogma meant nothing in the face of 15 to 1 odds. The NCR brought more soldiers than the Brotherhood had bullets and overwhelmed the brotherhood devastating their numbers. In Warhammer the same is true an astartes alone can defeat any normal human but 15 well armed and trained humans to one astartes stands a chance.

In this vein, I'd have really liked to see Gaunt and Hark tag team a chaos space marine. No idea if they'd get the job done, but still, would be cool!
