really nice result, and a playful idea. glazing over vitrified surfaces is very tricky, heatgun was a nice touch.

Hi Carisse, It's great :D Ritzuko at Clay Mix has been great with helping me with my glaze recipies as well (She recently put together an underglaze base for me that I haven't had a chance to try out yet!)

@@hobbypotter Oh very nice, I hope it works out well for you. I’m in the process to find a satin clear that I’m happy with and then experiment with it.

Enjoyed your video. I have heard spraying with hair spray over previously glazed pottery is helpful. Not sure if that is true......

Loved this, thank you! I’m a beginner and have a few glazing challenges I’d like to redo. Have you ever partially reglaze a piece? Could that work? I have a sculpture that parts are lovely and others are hideous! I’d love to reglaze just those parts… I’m guessing I’ll give it a go. Also, why did you fire the white underglaze to cone 4 before adding underglaze colours? Then you’re fired again before the clear glaze? What is the reason for this, if not too big a question 🙋🏼‍♀️ 😂❤

Let's see if I can help. I have partially reglazed pieces to fix errors. If your surface is shiny, you will need to prepare the surface to re-accept the glaze and make it adhere. (Raw bisqueware normally absorbs the glaze, where something with glaze will repel it). You need to "rough up" the surface by sanding or try spraying hairspray (so I've heard) then apply your glaze. Be sure you let it completely dry (or force dry with a hair dryer) before firing it again. In the video I tried applying white underglaze and firing it on (low fire cone 04) to create a more matte surface to accept my colored underglazes. I hope this was helpful, let me know if you still have any questions! 😁 TJ
