Regional Anthem of Friesland (Netherlands) - De âlde Friezen
"De âlde Friezen" (English: "The Old Frisians") is the anthem of the Friesland province of the Netherlands.
The text is by the Frisian writer Eeltsje Halbertsma. The version commonly sung today is an abridgement, dating from 1876, by Jacobus van Loon. The words were not set to music until after Halbertsma's death (they were first sung in 1875 at a ceremony held to commemorate his work), The song was adopted as the Frisian anthem by the Selskip foar Frysk Taal- en Skriftekennisse (Society for Frisian Language and Literature) on the urging of politician, writer and poet Pieter Jelles Troelstra (1860-1930) and has served as the (unofficial) anthem of Friesland ever since.

@@ThijsSH History. There was a war between N/Z Holland, Zeeland and N/Z Brabant VS Friesland. Friesland had lots of power before. They don't want them to be proud of them selves. (short version)

I’ve always loved the Frisian language. Perhaps us folks across the channel would be speaking something similar today had a certain jumped-up Norman duke not interfered.

@Jaap Sibma je bent slecht in Engels of niet soms? Wat ik zei was: het is zelfs zo slecht dat Nederlands nog dichter is bij het oorspronkelijke Engels. Nergens staat dat modern Nederlands ouder is dan Fries. Dat is misschien wat je wilt horen.

@moosewatcher1238 as a west frisian i can personally attest to this, even speaking a wâldfrysk dialect that is mostly the same as standard west frisian i still pronounce some words notably different than the standard forms and even people from the same area as me. In my experience everyone has their own personal version of frisian slightly different from one another.

Just look at the flag of East Frisia. That's a cool flag. It is like the german flag, but it is blue instead of yellow. And it has a coat of arms in the middel. Btw. West Frisia is the only part that is in the Netherlands, the rest is in Germany.
