Thanks so much for your Time, I follow all of your great work!
Man, you are doing the Lord's work. Thanks for this lesson. Just what I needed.
Great to hear and see how the layers are built up. Often when I listen to reggae recordings its difficult for me to decompose it. This tuto really helps with this process. Thanks for sharing it
Woow I appreciate you

Really love your tutorials. Can you do more videos about reggae clavinet? There's no much about on youtube, only "normal funky grooves"
@DMKahn

To be honest with you I haven't really heard a clavinet VST that I was blown away with. If I had a really good voicing I'd be down to do a video on it. Any suggestions?
Love this tutorial! One thing that might be cool is maybe a tutorial on how to do correct panning in a full reggae mix? Like for all elements of a full mix...piano, both organs, guitars, drums, reverbs, etc

Thanks! My next planned video will be the continuation of the last video on how to make a reggae song in an hour. In the next one it will be on mixing where my thoughts on panning will be discussed. Stay tuned and go watch the last video of you haven’t already! Cheers and thanks again 🙏

What would you say is the key differences in traditional reggae vs protoje style as far as piano and keyboard playing?
@DMKahn
3 жыл бұрын
Hi I’m not too familiar with the protoje style enough to comment
Like what your doing man. There are much easier ways to play this chords than moving the hands all the way up. Also the smoother voice leading sounds better to me. But no right or wrong way of course. An example is going from 1-3 chord (Amaj to C#Min) by just lowering your finger that’s on A to the G# then you got a C#Min. From what I’ve learned and heard it sounds more pleasant to the ear to move less fingers if possible. Keep it up brotha. Bless up

I-Sight Records thanks bro. I am aware of the other voicings. This is the easiest way to learn and understand the fundamentals I think. Plus I’m self learned, no classical training 🔥
@DMKahn
4 жыл бұрын
I-Sight Records you know what I mean? By seeing root third fifth this way it helps the person learning understand. Of course taking the fifth down to the left of the root is how most would play. Maybe I should show the different voicings in another tutorial.

For sure man. That is definitely the easiest way to teach someone. The other way can be real confusing at first, but easier to play. Good intro video. Big up

@@GreenMusic506 You totally right but very often on Reggae there's big jump in the voicings it also make the flavour.
Brother ojalá te animes a hacer un tutorial de reggae lento hablo de 100 a 120 bpm en ese rango sería interesante un ejemplo sería la canción "free minds " de subajah corre a 100 bpm muy espiritual.
Hi, what would you consider the best vst or library for organ?
@DMKahn
4 жыл бұрын
I’m not sure on the best, but Vintage Organs from NI, along with Logic’s B3 are the two that I use. There’s a few more but I haven’t tried them so. Cheers!

Im a huge Augustus Pablo fan and have tried recording faux melodica tracks with the harmonica voicing on my Yamaha keyboard with a lil delay..What are your thoughts or advice on mixing because iv had a rough time getting it to sit well despite how sweet it sounds
@DMKahn
Жыл бұрын
Melodica in general is hard to mix because it has a lot of frequencies that are kind of harsh. I’m not sure what advice to offer without hearing it. Generally speaking I’d suggest some reductive EQ on areas that are very resonant. Hope that helps

@@DMKahn hey I just finished mixing a new tune with the faux melodica I mentioned and I've definitely noticed a huge difference on my sound quality since watching your videos and tips almost religiously.lol. thank you so much for providing the great dub knowledge. So I haven't uploaded the new song to KZread yet but I'm going to try to put my SoundCloud link to it below if I can figure it out. Dub on.
