Regaining confidence!!!

Rehabbing the body from two big surgeries isn’t hard. It just takes a little pain tolerance and lots of dedicated patience. The emotional recovery … whoa dang that’s way gnarlier. Back in November when I committed to racing DH worlds this May, I was terrified of riding natural trails and most jumps. Confidence is coming back very slowly. I’ve been looking at this trick jump since it was built with a big fat “No!” Yesterday after class with a U23 World Cup XC racer I said to her:
“You know what would be bad ass? If I just ride over there and hit that jump without even looking at it, and land it nice.”
“Heck yeah,” she said. “You’re the masters world champion.”
Yes!! Every time I release an old limitation I feel myself expand. 5 weeks til race day. My performance goal is to ride that race in pure flow, in direct contact with the Holy Oreo. Anything that happens there is true and beautiful. Plus I want to win … and I know that’s where I ride my best.

Looks like you've been through those motions 10,000 times. Also, thank you for your vulnerability.

I have a genuine question. I’m a decent mtbr, but jumps aren’t my forte. It looks like you extend your body on the face of this ramp, which slows you down…but perhaps helps you pop upwards? If you look at your technique while on the ramp, is it perfect? Just ok? Did you pop too early? Thanks Lee.
