Refusing to issue Insurance for Tesla vehicles in Malaysia?

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Getting auto insurance for electric vehicles in Malaysia is not exactly a hard task. That is unless you own a Tesla and insist on having an AIG Malaysia auto insurance policy for it because the company seems to have specifically put the brand into its no-welcome list for the AIG Comprehensive Car Insurance plan

Maybe, that could work. EV companies taking up the tab for their own vehicle models

The solution is simple, no insurance good luck driving "electric car". Forget hybrid and EV, Malaysia fuel are cheap. Used ice have better resale value, 10 years old hybrid civic RM10k less then 1.8L base model.

I don't think the government can force any insurance companies to insure but if they do there will be a huge premium

@@chestercheng75 oh no, that’s going to punch huge hole in our wallets. Actually, I’m planning to purchase an EV car as my first car after driving it for the first time back in 2022 particularly Tesla Model 3. I totally felt in love with its cutting edge technology and its huge savings on the long run( no petrol, no dirty lubrication oil nonsense). It’s so simple to maintain even an average person with lack of knowledge about cars can easily fell in love with it. I’m not sure about others but I’m a huge fan of EV’s But the biggest question is the insurance. Now that’s quite challenging 😥

A potential solution could be for manufacturers to buy back damaged battery packs and recycle them. With future technological advancements, this issue could be resolved. These are some of the pain points early adopters face. Somehow, insurance companies should find a middle ground to cater to EV cars.

That would be ideal bus as current technology lithium-ion battery has a high cost of recycling. Unless that changes quickly, insurance companies are unlikely to bite the bullet without huge premiums on the EV users

AIG sucks anyway, why bother. Many others are giving better coverage and extra benefits for EVs.

In a way yes, but more and more insurance companies are taking note and are already avoiding insurance to EV. Europeans are already facing this dilemma on top of the huge resale value losses of their EV compared to ICE counterpart

In Malaysia we have BYD, GWM Ora, Hyundai, Kia, Mazda, Nissan, BMW, Mercedes-Benz etc. EVs in Malaysia, why it is not listed? Why Toyota cars, which is an ICE diesel petrol vehicle in the list? Care to explain those? You've jumped into conclusion too soon without proper research, I don't think it has anything to do with Electric Vehicles. More like you are pushing "EV hate" propaganda here.

It's nothing about hate, it's just the fact. That news wasn't published by me. LOL
