I don't like how Rahime plays out this refugee situation - he is too pushy with his one sided ideas. I see no reason why germans must feel obliged to share their appartment or spend their saturday , their day off going to the market with a refugee. They are generous enough to accept a million refugees coming to their country, sheltering, providing refugees with basics , and yet Rahime demands even more .

Well, I completely support to build them homes and so, but that would be a bit too private, to have someone in your house. I mean, not even good friends live together, they meet up, but they don‘t live together. People simply need a private place. Also the germans and also the newbies in Germany (or wherever). So it‘s okay for me to build houses, I‘d even like to work on the constructions, or accepting meeting them at school, at work, at the supermarket. It‘s also okay if I make friend with someone and invite him to my house. But everyone needs a private place. To listen to music, to sleep in silence or just to fart around 😆 So that would be the best way for me, that‘s what I wanted if I was a refugee now. And the oppurtinity to learn, to work, to do something for my own developing and getting known about the values people have around me and tell them my own ones.

I am surprised with the humblenss and welcoming attitude of the Germans for Refugees..!! Hats off to the lady who show gratitude and invited him for food. But there should be regugee policy with limited number of people who will adopt this beautigul German culure with language. Respect has increased for Germans and the great nation Germany!!

+holyinfantry999 I hate to be crass and state the obvious, but I don't think most people are going to give their most honest opinion about this topic when: 1) They're being filmed (especially considering the way the media has daemonised everyone criticising the party line), and 2) They're being asked by a black man. Just saying.

I live in the Philippines and most of us cannot welcome refugees because we, too, are poor. But I hope that Germany would not be alone in taking care of these refugees. Something must be done to address this issue. Perhaps, providing them with food and shelter for the time being would be good, but they must be taught how to survive on their own in a foreign land. They must be assisted in getting a decent living. As Benjamin Disraeli said, "Give them fish and they will survive for a day. Teach them how to fish and they will survive for a lifetime."

Idk why in videos like this one it is always a 100% denied that a situation like this with millions of refugees coming in in a short amount of time could even in the SLIGHTEST be problematic?? Like it's not really that hard to at LEAST see THAT. (Also: If it comes as far as to me having to take people and invite them into MY home - uhm YES that IS too far.)

All people in this video made positive comments however I also would like to know about the other side of the coin. I would like to hear about the negative side (in the economy, society, etc.) of receiving the refugees may have in Deutschland. Nice video!

I think immigrants can help the economy to a degree ... We have a lot of immigrants in the US, and they have done a lot .. However, the wages of working class Americans do go down some when the job market is flooded with people, and when there is a demand for or shortage of workers, workers here get RAISES! So, I am against flooding the job market with immigrants. ..a few, some, maybe... I always wanted to move to Germany, studied German in school, but probably couldn't stay more than three months as a tourist because I wouldn't be able to get a work permit or visa. All of a sudden, people who never thought of Germany before are everywhere in the country??? It's obviously stupid.

You should have stayed away from this topic. Many people have legimate concerns about the present refugee dilemma that they're unwilling to express for fear of reproach. Since Rahime represented and identified with the refugees, I think many people were guarded in their repsonses to him. It seems that those that are responsible for the horrors that they've endured in their lands of origin aren't an adequate part of the discussion. The burden is always on Germans as well as other Europeans to display their humanity.

Current statistics say that 70% of Germans are in favor of helping refugees during the current crisis. So you can guess that the answers given in this video are kind of representative for a large number of Germans. However, of course there are concerns too (as raised in the video too). As said we wanna produce more videos on that topic within the next couple of weeks. This is just one of them ;)

I really enjoyed this episode. It's on my top ten list now. It was current, interesting, and all the participants spoke clearly making it a tremendous learning experience. As for the the continuing refugee crisis in Germany: This was an emergency situation and I commend the German government for accommodating these desperate people. However, going forward, Germany needs to integrate them as quickly as possible. They should make no accommodation for language, culture, or religion. They have to become Germans and learn the rich culture Germany has to give. This generation is grateful, however, it is the next generation I'm worried about. Without integration into the German society, the generation that follows will forget the generosity of the German people.

+Good music Prepositions that can mean both direction and location take the Accusative to mean direction "in/an/zu/hinter den Kopf" and the Dative to mean location "im/am/zum/hinterm Kopf". This can be learned by googling "german dative preposition", which is much quicker than waiting for an answer for 3 weeks on KZread.

:) First of all, Karin Janusz and Manuel are doing an Amazing job together, please keep it up! Why? Take a look and watch some videos. Second, not all Germans are "nice or friendly" (this applies to all nations, not just Germans) but I would say many are friendly and willing to help and looking for friends as soon as others are good and honest to them. I also think that "Honesty" should be a Priority for everyone, of course dear Karin wanted to attract more viewers and present Germany and German culture to the world. But, I think probably everyone knows that it can't just be beautiful. Also directness is big part of Germans. :)

+mty1 I find subtitled German to be a constant balancing act between "what makes sense" and "what is good English", because the sentences are structured so differently. On one hand, you want to know the direct translation of what they're saying. On the other, you want the sentence you're reading to make sense. "The negative side comes here" is a direct translation and makes sense, at the cost of maybe sounding awkward. But I don't know what they could've written in its place, if they wanted to remain faithful to the German script.

the show is good(good idea- learning from the streets) but you have one big mistake. The subtitles go too damn fast, there is not close enough time to see the words. You should somehow make it slower. There is no point in stopping the video every 2 seconds. If one understands everythin what was being said he doesn't even need to learn German. Of course and unfortunately this is most probably true for every single of 100+ videos. Sorry to say but that is really sad.

Hi Evan. Try to slower the speech at the bottom right of the video. It might help in your situation ;) It's a pity that we can't please everyone, but particularly this series aims at showing a REAL language situation. If those people spoke at a fake speak the whole concept wouldn't work and neither would it be helpful for you ;) But don't give up. We will publish many new videos for beginners soon. We are doing our best to produce as much useful content (for all levels) as possible :)

+Jaime Eduardo Gallegos Castillo - Why is it biased? We showed exactly all the answers we got. I don't think that we need to visit those people who burn refugee houses just to hear their opinion too. Of course there is very legitimate concerns about the refugee politics in Germany. We need to ensure that everything works out well - and these concerns were also raised in the video. But apart from that we need to acknowledge, that taking in refugees is a duty. A duty of humanity and a duty according to the German and the international law. And honestly, I don't care about these people who are against refugees just because they are afraid of people they have never met. I feel ashamed for them and I also feel ashamed for some of the comments here. About our program topics: We always do both: fun topics as well as political relevant topics. We can not and do not want to spare any or the other. Cari

+Easy German Dear Cari, those racists and radicals, who dont want immigrants, don't represent the way your country faces this crisis. And let me tell you this: Germany has been for decades the first european country collaborating on different programs in Peru. Many germans travel to Peru not only for tourism. They offer their time and experience to work in non profit organisations. Many doctors do the same. I am really proud to meet some of them. Many german students come to Peru visit our beautiful touristic places and also work for free in rural areas or in the poor villages in urban areas. Visiting Cusco and Machu Picchu this year I talked with many of them. On watching your videos in Swakopmund - Namibia it was the same feeling. So to me, your empathy, and concern, the way germans try to help in many Humanitarian Crisis is part of your culture. And one of the main reasons I love and respect Germany too. And thank you Cari for your concern.
