Refrigerator Troubleshooting and Repair, Amana Replacing Defrost Termination Switch
Well our refrigerator was cooling properly, freezer was too warm! Time to trouble shot to fine why the freezer portion of the refrigerator isn't frozen! After some quick trouble shooting, found that the compressor was running (which is a good sign), evaporator coil fan was running and the coils were relatively clean, so moving to the inside, I immediately noticed that the condenser coil fan inside the refrigerator was not spinning! Turns out the fan was not bad, it worked fine, and after the coils defrosted I found the defrost termination switch was exploded! Bought another defrost termination switch and replaced it and now the refrigerator is working perfectly fine again!

What is the switch part number? I have the same Amana fridge. Lost the owners manual and there is no model number placard on or in the fridge. EIther the fridge model number or the part number would be helpful. Thanks!

Mine is model# SX23VW
Remove cover refrigerator bulb ASI2575GRS01
false on the compressor not running, could and very often is just the relay on the compressor, very easy and low cost fix

Yes, that’s a good point! Could also be temperature controls!
Defrosted my freezer last week, because the fridge wasn't cooling. now it's frosted again, and the fridge is not cooling again. Lol. Should assume it's the switch 1st?

Is the fan working? Switch is cheap enough to replace.
