Excellent video. I can't thank you enough. I have a refrigerator that has the possible yoder loop leak and I was wondering if this can be by passed. Now I know it can and the solution for preventing the condensation. Keep it up. Fan for life. Thanks

Bypassing the Yoder loop affects subcooling. I did it in a Subzero and I could not get the freezer to go below 10 degrees no matter how I adjusted the charge. I ended up installing an external Yoder loop to solve the problem. I've also bypassed the loop on smaller refrigerator with no issues. It depends on the length of the loop

This man is an amazing instructor ,he knos what he is talking about it. I have a quick question I have a refrigerator in a good working condition ,I installed the piercing valve and my low side pressure is 40 psi, and he said is supposed to be 60-70 psi . what does it mean?

What do you call the clamp used for isolating a joint leak? I want to purchase one but can’t seem to find it.

Why is it that i dont see many appliance techs using Smart probes? Fieldpiece joblink probes, vs manifold and hoses? Also, when brazing with Oxy/Ace do you all prefer the Smith Jewelers torch? Which is small and compact?

The valves in most compressors are reed valves. A reed valve is just a thin flat piece of stainless steel, for both the intake valve and discharge valve. Depending on the position of the piston in the compressor it is possible for the system to equalize faster than average as the valves are not completely sealed or slightly warped. Here is a link to a teardown video showing the reed valves inside a compressor. kzread.info/dash/bejne/ZYmr2o-YhsjJeNI.html

Whirlpool offers a dye drier as well for r134 systems. Cannot use dye on r600. Generally we nitrogen charge and listen for the hiss to check for leaks. Since you didn't find it in the rear I am guessing leak at the evap. Maybe the heater rubbed or burned a hole in the evap

can we increase pressure from external air compressor to around 300-500 psi to detect leaks? in that way even a weak spot on the pipes or joints can crack, etc, self admitting weak points. Because the higher the internal pressure, the easier to detect holes as they makes alot of sound when air is escaping through it in a very fast rate.

evaporators in refrigerators are mostly made of aluminum, anything over 100PSI nitrogen will possibly damage the evaporaor

Couldnt you cut both sides and test pressure in the yoder loop in a vaccumm and see if the loop holds pressure or not for a leak test?

  • @TMMApplianceRepair

leaks are better tested with pressure, although you can not fix most yoder loops, vacuum will say a tube is leaking same as pressure, but a vacuum could risk pulling moisture, dirt or other things into the system, where pressure like nitrogen would leak out reducing that risk

Hello, I have a question. Can heart failure be checked with air or only with gas? The second question is about gas, is mixing gases not a problem? Because R134a was first filled here, and later Nitrogen, by creating a gas mixture, does this not have to be reversed and filled with the same gas? Because the air is free at high pressure, we check the heart failure at the maximum test pressure, and if it is, we repair it, vacuum the device and fill it with gas. If it is filled with gas, but the system is leaking, I cannot use a gas flame directly, because the explosion is dangerous, on the other hand, in the case of a pressure test with clean air. Greetings from Hungary! And thank you in advance for your answer!

Sorry not sure what you mean about heart failure. Bit it is a common practice to use a small amount of a trace gas with nitrogen to test for leaks. Electronic leas detectors can not detect nitrogen this is why tlwr add refrigerant. Once the leak is identified the nitrogen is evacuated from the system and charged back with r134a. Nitrogen js an inert gas so will not cause any problems qhen mixed with refrigerant. This is done to raise the entire systems pressure to test for a leak. It is not used when the compressor is operating.

As far as I know heart failure can be checked with propane and a torch.

Cheaper to just buy a new refrigerator. If it is leaking in one place, it will soon be leaking someplace else. Service calls will cost more than a new refrigerator.

A good idea is to fill the compressor with water before regassing then there is no need to vacuum
