Refraction through Concave Surface from Denser to Rarer Medium ‖ Relation between v,u and R

⦿ Chapter : Refraction of Light through a Curved Surface ⦿ Topic : Deduce the relation between image distance , object distance and radius of curvature for refraction of light through refracting concave surface enclosing a denser medium....
Ans :
When a ray of light from a object point O existing in denser medium of refractive index μ 2 is refracted through a refracting concave surface , then a virtual image will be formed at a distance v in denser medium of refractive index μ2 , the relation between image distance , object distance and radius of curvature will be
(Refractive index of 2nd Medium / Image distance ) - (Refractive Index of 1st Medium/ Object Distance) = {(Refractive index of 2nd Medium - Refractive Index of 1st Medium)/Radius of Curvature}
∴ ( μ 1 / v ) - (μ2 / u ) = (μ1 - μ2)/R
