Reforestation Project Video
On April 22, 2020, USAID commemorated Earth Day by recognizing the importance of healthy forests and celebrating partner countries’ work to conserve and restore them. In Haiti, forests can provide a wealth of benefits, including food security and healthy soils, timber and fuel, erosion control, watershed protection, and microclimate stabilization. Learn how the USAID Reforestation Project supports communities in Northern Haiti to restore mangrove forests to protect coastlines from erosion and storm surges, and to plant trees on vulnerable lands to improve water quality and increase agricultural productivity. Since 2017, the Project has planted over 1 million tree seedlings and transplanted over 23,000 mangrove trees.

They should use native trees also to reforestation. In Brazil it is done in state of Minas Gerais in the Aimores . The Dominican Republic has more native forest. There it is possible to make nurseries with many kinds off trees to plant in Haiti. Isntituto Terra replant a tropical forest in Brazil with native trees.
