Shaykh I believe the majority of Muslim scholars outside of the Wahhabi movement do not object to protests and I only ever see criticism of this from our Wahhabi brothers. May Allah bear witness that I do not say this to be divisive but I am cautious of us conflating Wahhabi opposition to protests with a broader split on this issue when it doesn’t really exist. If I am mistaken on this, may Allah reward me based on my intention.

Sheikh, thanks for being at Yale and addressing the protestors there. You also started off this lecture well talking about the history of student protests. As I have commented on other videos of yours, you still haven't stopped this habit of elaborately addressing the uber conservative attitudes within the Muslim community. With the soccer world cup, you were spending much time talking about the Fiqh of sports and intricacies of it. In response to the initial October 7th attacks, you spent too much time talking about irresponsible comments of Muslims calling for Caliphate. Now, in this lecture, see how much time you are allocating talking about the Fiqh of protests. It is a waste of time. Instead spend time encouraging Muslims to partake in protests and support the protestors morally and monetarily. With your constant addressing of conservative opinions in these lectures, it feels like you have come out of the Najdi but the Najdi has not come out of you.

Any practicing Muslims, i want to ask honest question. how many of them would protest if this was done against non muslims by a muslim state? how many of you have protested ISIS killings against Yazidis , Kurdish minorities? or would you call this conquer of Muslim state against non Muslims?

Aren't all we Muslims supposed to be "Quranists"? That is the first Book we should turn to. If you can't find your answer there then you go to the Ahadith. It's never the other way around. The answer to this issue can be found in the Quran which makes Muslims duty bound to stand against injustice and oppression. (4-135, 5-8, 8-39) are just a few. Nowhere in Quran is protesting injustice or oppressors made haram. I also could find no strong chain Ahadith against either.
