Reflections on Scotland and the New Armies, 1914 - 1918 | Prof Peter Simkins

In this lecture, Prof Peter Simkins takes a look at the Scottish battalions which were formed following Kitchener's appeal for volunteers to join the colours on the outbreak of World War 1. A number of 'Scottish' divisions were formed and these will be looked at in great detail.
The problems encountered during training (lack of accommodation, weapons) and performance in battle are also discussed.
