Reflecting on the First African Science-Policy Dialogue on DSI

In May 2024, more than 30 African scientists and policy makers/negotiators met in Nairobi, Kenya, for the first African Science-Policy Dialogue on Digital Sequence Information on Genetic Resources (DSI).
Hosted by the African Union Commission (AUC) and the International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI) in cooperation with the ABS Capacity Development Initiative, the participants gained practical insights into scientific work with DSI; learned about policy processes and negotiations around DSI under the CBD and other international fora; identified converging and diverging views; discovered common open questions and shared misunderstandings; and developed recommendations to support international negotiations on DSI.
This webinar reflects on the discussions and shares outcomes with a broader African audience.
