    Looking NICE ! I have the New England in 20 gauge . I picked it up new back in the med 90s . It was a Walmart gun . Had a Painted on finish that started to flake off after about 4 months of seeing the field . I refinished it with a kit I had picked up . It is do for another one now . It has seen a lot of brush and thorns in its short life . I have seen your older videos with this gun and I am thinking about putting mine on a diet and going black . More of a survival gun . Also going to get the adapters so it can run with other calibers . They will be a fun addition . Thank You For Sharing !

    Currently tackling the same project on my topper 48. Looked all over for videos on toppers and nothing came up. This is the color i wanted, reddish stain, went with the barn red and its way too red, putting the tru oil sealer on now, hopefully it comes out good, if not I'll be start all over with this color. Great video, thanks KZread for crappy algorithms.lol.

    With "Hell Hound" burned into the stock, that project was doomed from the start. But even with remedial techniques, the finished product looks a lot better than its beginnings.

    it was my first attempt at creating a rat rod style gun, i carved that to see what it would look like after the stain... more less for my son. He liked the concept.

    Currently refinishing one of these in 20 gauge I inherited. Stripped,sanded and coat after coat of boiled linseed oil. Wood has nicer grain than you'd expect.

    What shade of Minwax did you use? I wonder if Birch wood Casey could be applied over the Minwax ? I like the reddish colour to the stain.

    Hi man! Finally got to take my topper to shoot some skeet today , was great for a few rounds then a shell fired and got stuck in there . Before that I had to get the spent shell out with my nails . Are these supposed to eject the spent case ? Trying to figure out where to start , lubing the extractor or disassembling it and cleaning it or figuring out if I have a broken one ..

    Hey man! Its more than likely your ejector spring, they tend to wear out and cause stuck shells. I just replaced two of them in my shotguns. try using a bore brush on a screw gun on low and clean the chamber, oil and clean the extractor. In the mean time. You might want to order an extractor spring from numerich online. I replaced mine and it spits them into orbit now lol .. also, ill have a how to video on replacing it.. its really easy though.

    ZRUS Outdoors Channel awesome!! Would love a video . It moves but not much when it’s pushed in just comes back out a little . I cleaned it up as much as I can without taking it apart But that’s where I’m stuck since can’t figure how to take it out haha

    ZRUS Outdoors Channel they have a ejector spring and or a ejector patch spring .. mine is a topper m48 20 gauge with the case color hardened receiver . Seems pretty old Not sure what year . With the two springs the ejector spring says for old and new the latch spring just days for old . Do you know which one ?

  • @ZRUSOutdoorsChannel

    there are two springs for the ejector. the ejector spring is the one you want, the other is a small spring that keeps upward tension on the extractor. To be safe, if its a cheap spring, might as well add it to the cart.. but i only replaced the ejector spring and now i have no issues.

    I pulled the hammer back on my h&r single shot, as the hammer was pulled back it snapped, now the hammer is broken, I'm really upset because that's the only gun I can afford and now It's gone, Any suggestions on repairing it? I don't have the tools to take it apart

    Would an electric sander work

  • @chikkenbonz

    @chikkenbonz

    3 жыл бұрын

    No, prolly not. Electric sanders would more than likely take away too much material too fast. You would have gouges and sanding dents in the curvatures of the wood. Hand sanding is the way to go when removing minimal amounts of material like removing the old finishes or light scratches. For heavy scratches, use heavy grit sand paper and work your way down to light grit then steel wool.

    Nice gun, the carving on the wood ruins it.The stock looks like a park bench that was carved by a 15-yr old boy with a folding knife.
