Reel Opinions: Alex Lawther on theatre, TV, his teen feminist play, & life advice from the greats

Actor, writer and director Alex Lawther is still probably most recognisable from his notable TV roles in Black Mirror and The End of the F***ing World. But that’s just the tip of the iceberg for the 28-year-old, who, this year, saw his debut short as a writer/director - FOR PEOPLE IN TROUBLE (produced by Ben Affleck and Matt Damon) premiered at Tribeca Film Festival.
In this cosy interview with FF’s Katie Bignell, Lawther shares what actress Juliet Stevenson told him about protecting instincts, as well as the Carole Churchill / Sarah Kane / Emerald Fennel infused theatre production his 14-year-old self crafted in his parents’ back garden.
