Redseven D100 Preamp Review (Kristian Larsen - Song For Solo)
I want to give a huge THANK YOU to the guys over at Redseven Amplification for sending the D100PRE to me.
What an amazing and inspiring piece of gear!
If you like what you hear in this video then don't hesitate to reach out to them.
I am using the D100PRE in conjunction with my Retro Channel power amp.
The speakers are a blend of Celestion Creambacks and an old EVM12L speaker.
Recorded with an SM57 and a Voodoo VR2 ribbon mic in stereo going straight into my Apollo x8 sound interface.
No EQ or compression added.
Delay is coming from Echoboy (THE best delay plugin ever).
And a special thanks to my very talented friend, Eric Ahl.
Your keyboard playing took this song to another level.
And thanks to, Simon Frisk, For helping out with some of the filming.
If you have any questions then don't hesitate to reach out to me on social media or in the comments of this video.
I love to talk with you guys!
Much love and I'll see you soon again with another video.

That was an awesome demo Kristian and I loved the tune! You should do a video of the Tyler guitar in the video going over all its specs and tones ;-) I do have a question... Since there is capability to have presets, does each preset retain the EQ settings per preset, or is is just a channel preference with the extra boost engaged?
I'm lost for words. Absolutely superb, my friend. You should be very proud of yourself for that composition- truly wonderful!

Fantastic demo, great sounding gear. I’m really impressed with both your playing and the sounds you’re getting. My only critique would be for how this preamp is being marketed. To be fair it’s not really a 3 channel preamp, it’s effectively a two channel preamp with a switchable gain stage in the lead channel. IMHO, the EQ settings you’d want for a med-high gain rhythm part are going to be.a lot different than what you’d want for lead playing, so you effectively have 1 gain channel unless you use an external EQ unit. It’s still an absolutely fantastic sound preamp, though.
@KristianLarsenGuitar
Жыл бұрын
I never found that I wanted to change the EQ between channel 2 and 3. The EQ/BOOST is awesome for any changes to the sound between the channels. YMMV ofc!

@@ewaldnickl8866 Thank you very much! You unfortunately can't buy the Retro channel anymore and I have never seen one come up on the used market either. I don't think very many were made. Since filming this video I've switched to a Mesa 295. Both sound great!

F king amazing!
steve's brodie)) Good Tone Man!
I've been following you for years. Incredible player. My only question is HOW are you able to afford such incredible gear? :)
@KristianLarsenGuitar
Жыл бұрын
Thank you! It's taken me about 15 years to collect the gear you see in my videos. I don't have a lot of money tbh and I am lucky to have bought most of my stuff before the huge increase in prices we see today. For example I bought my H3000 for about a 1/3rd of the price for what they're going for today. Most vintage rack gear has sky-rocketed in price the past 3-4 years unfortunately.
Three insane preamp in that rack! Which one would you choose if you had to keep only one ? Quad ? CAE ? or RedSeven?

@@KristianLarsenGuitar is this capable of vintage Marshall tones or is it just a high gain beast? How usable is the 3'rd channel? I had a new Brunetti Mille CR and the 3rd channel was completely unusable

@@youscreamiscream it's definitely capable of lower gain Marshall tones. Using the first or the second channel. Channel 3 is great too. I usually use channel 2 for most of my playing though.
