I thought the generated results would be weirder, ngl. It was interesting to see how your designs blended in with the original ideas, which were very much open to interpretation.

It's weirder to see how artist interprets a bunch of pixels as eyes and nose, especially if it is not the way you see it (5:42). The way he did it feels as if AI is turning a mash of pixels into a full picture.
Wow. My favourite is the blue blob in the mech chair, so cute!!! The idea of a literal "Hamster-ball" is too pure. Also, the character with the beak, did you know it was a beak from the start or did you figure that out from blocking? Originally, I saw a dog with big floppy ears, looking to the side and then my brain melted trying to figure out where it was going. Nice to see you actually DO something with the generated images, as well as generate them in the first place. Awesome video! ❤

Thanks! Yeah I kinda saw the dog in that one as well, but that design was the last one I tackled - and there were already 2 dogs in the set - so I think I was looking for something fresh at that point and the giant beak was another idea I had in mind so I ran with that! :D

I am in awe with the creativity put into some of the sprites you had translated these janky masses of random squares into. Great video as always :D
I’d love to see a video on “blender models conversion into pixel art” tutorials, as they seem like a really easy way to make pretty good pixel art and it’d be interesting to see an actual pixel artists opinion on it

Haha I love this idea!! I was especially looking forward to how you'd interpret the blue one. I think it has to be my fav design before & after the translation - it's so unique! 😁 I also really liked the bird's design, honestly they're all super fun! Seems like a nice way to explore some really unique ideas 🤩
@BJGpixel

Thanks so much dude! Yeah the blue one is really fun - probably one of the more abstract in terms of its original design, but made up for it by having the friendliest expression 😂
I am so obsessed with all the finished designs/interpretations.. Very cool!
Surprisingly enough the designs fit well with each other, they look like the cast for a game... Sorry for the long text (:P) but I got these ideas: -The redhead girl is the protagonist, she's a human damsel who lives in a cabin near a river. She is looking for her missing dog (the light brown one). -The bald kid who is wearing a cardboard box is a human trying to look like a robot, he's dream is to live in a sci-fi city when he's older. He's from a regular city area with regular humans. -The bird guy is a citizen from a city full with tall tress that reach near the sky. This could be a platformer area. -The yellow hamster could be the protagonist's helper/assistant who joins early in the game. They felt lonely and really wanted to become our friend. -The pink hair lady is an androide who is friends with the blue cyborg creature, they live in a sci-fi city and give techno related minigames (like hacking a computer or making an techno armor...) -The pink plant creature is from a forest area with plant related puzzles and maybe a foraging minigame. At the end of the game the damsel finds her dog next to the pink dog, the dogs are in love with each other so the damsel decides to adopt the pink dog and the hamster, then they all go back home together. ... Quite a wholesome little game, huh.
1,2 and 4 I would've drawn similar. But for the rest I had a completely different image in front of me, before seeing your approach. Everytime interesting how people see the same things but interpret em completely different.
I actually quite liked the AI's attempt of pixel art's line work; the broken thick lines have an appeal to them. Doesn't seem like the AI knows quite what pixel art is though, ironically enough.
6:11 You can't fool me, I know a kirby when I see one
The ai generated piece of the girl actually doesn't look bad. It would probably fit in a horror game. This might just be a good way of getting ideas.

why horror
Those are some great characters. Looks like the crew of a starship in an RPG maker game or something. Very fun bunch of designs.
My silly little idea for their story: Game takes place throughout red hair girls life in her dreams or an imagination world. Characters in the start are the cuter and more pastel ones, inspired by her stuffed animals. As she grows older though her sense of wonder and creativity is sorta taken out of her so she will conform to society, she works an office job, and the cute computer creature is a manifestation of said job. Throughout the game she looses her childlike imagination and joy and has to slowly regain it to find meaning in her routine based life in the office and follow her dreams. Maybe pink hair girl is an imaginary friend or alternatively a girl from her job. Idk
I really enjoyed seeing the higher color counts with more blending, the “higher bit depth” looks of pixel art.
I also LOVE the hamster ball it's my favorite And this is so amazing to watch good job!💕
Would love to see more of this! Upscaling artificial art with human creativity is great fun to watch and to learn from.
That style of outlines is so cool and is something I never would've thought about trying before
This is amazing. I especially love the timelapse where you can see the sort of evolution morphing from the raw output of the AI to a refined and finalized sprite. Incredible work.
This was incredible! My favourites by far were the dog and the toucan, such fun silhouettes
imagine a game that entirely used ai generated scenery and images to inspire characters and places, just a neat thought

This is fantastic! I love the style you made these in and the balance between the AI's ideas and your own, and they all came out great and really inspiring. This might be one of your best videos yet!
I think more of these would be interesting, like making an improved version of something like "mysterious metal contraption, pixel art".
Great work! Would love to see some of these put into a scene. Especially that ginger girl and her dog. The AI version of that girl kinda looks like she's wearing dungarees, as if she is a farmer or something! That birdman design is cool. Not what I interpretted from the original AI version. I saw another dog with big floppy ears. But I guess there already was a dog. Loved the outcome of your version.
I love how you always set yourself varied and creative challenges and prompts!
Always look forward to a new video! Absolutely love your work!
I like how instead of replacing everything, you try and add on to them, sort of improvising the drawing! Nice!
Oh man I really want to see some other artists tackle the same images and see how different they interpret them
Just got back into watching your videos and man this looks like such a fun challenge and all the funky sprites turned out amazing, might give this challenge a go!
"Looks like Stewie in this sort of a Lord of the Flies type situation-" That's just The Binding of Isaac with extra steps!
This is extremely cool! Great video idea, and interesting execution.
Man, I absolutely love the content of this channel. Quality as always! AIs are actually very good for getting some inspiration. I definitely wish for more like this video!
actually addicted to your videos lmaoo, was up till 5am last night binge watching
Brandon, this was so impressive! The toucan one totally surprised me! Now I can't see it any other way.
This has to be a new favorite and I hope you try this again with a different word search sometime. I used to doodle with my eyes closed and then try to turn the lines into an actual drawing when I was younger and this reminds me of that haha! Much love Brandon you’re the best.
Super cool idea and wonderful execution! Great as always!
This was great! I'd love to see this as a sort of series!
this actually inspired me to try my hand at this as well!! time to draw some pixel art :)
Clearly the entire thing was super awesome, but you really cracked me up with the CRT time logo 😆
That was really cool! I'll definitely try doing the same, it seems like a great source for inspiration
I knew someone would eventually do this idea, glad it was you
You translated them really well . They look so adorable💙
Great video ! I don’t know why but after watching two of your videos, I felt like drawing myself ! Thanks
Q&A: what make you came up with the now iconic CRT Time, did you just one day walk pass by your grandma oldest TV and think "mmm, I wonder what will pixel art look like in 1980?" (love the vibe of CRT Time btw)
I love these! The strange unexpected shapes remind me of the character design seen in Tamagotchis
love your content and your editing, you deserve to be way more popular
Hi Brandon, great video. Have you tried getting slow motion out of the CRT? maybe it'll show the scanline drawing of your artwork in an interesting way too. Cheers
That first one was wearing overalls for sure, but a dress works too haha, nice work!
This was a super fun idea. I’d love a series of these with varying prompts
Awesome idea!! It would be so cool tobsee more 😁😁
That's AMAZING! Thank you very much!
I think it works surprisingly well as an inspiration generator and even teaching tool. Unlike what I've seen from the other AI generated art projects a fair bit of refinement is till needed on the pixel art side. (admittedly this is the only generated pixel art I have seen) Also just want to say thank you for the pixel art tutorials they've been super helpful. It's also awesome to learn from a fellow Albertan. (I lived in Edmonton until moving up north a few years ago).
Nice. Your art is the right fit for Faketown 2nd creative competition. Faketown is the OG metaverse and it is a popular game back in the early 2000s. It's similar to Sims, but in 8-bit form.
I would love to see you get some different prompts rather than "cute", maybe go for "creepy", "cool", "robot" or whatever and then just go with either your fav and make a full scene or do this again where you do all of them real quick.
nice :) super innovative once again
Holy crap I'm generating some sprite ideas right now this looks so fun!
Interesting technique!!! Right now I'm using craiyon for starting thumbnails, I used to use alchemy pull shapes and go from there. With this I put in "silhouette" then my topic, usually Mecha or monster, then "on a white background". The results are hit or miss but I've built up some nice shapes with interesting negative space. You should try it.
I love this concept! edit - trying it myself I could only get results that look like things I want to draw with "cute" before it. Just "pixel art" or even "robot pixel art" didnt really get me stuff that looked like "oh yeah I want to make that a real thing" but this did it.
I definitely want to try this when I get the chance!
Dude, this was amazing. Creating with the assistance of AI is such an intriguing topic to me.
Great Video! You should try another Ai like Midjourney that are more robust and see what that outputs, althought part of the charm is how much space for interpretation there is with a smaller Ai like Crayon.
Craiyon is so fun.. nice remake...as always
The finished art looks so cutee~
Thank you, that you made that one top-right into a parrot instead of some weird meat/brain thingy
Great concept!
Great, a lot of fun! I think AI can be a great tool to sketch out some ideas
this is really cool since I've been recently playing around with this website. I might try this.
Dude AI & human art collab is my new favorite thing
I really liked the bird design, looks like a toucan? Ended up pretty original and looks nice!
Is it just me or has it been a while since you posted? Either way always glad to see your work!
This was amazing, great challenge to have for yourself
I play this game maker game called Bloxels. Bloxels lets you make your own pixel art assets but the tiles are limited to only 13 x 13 pixels, and 8 colors. I would love to see you take up the challenge of making some very very tiny pixel art using these restrictions. Really forces me to get creative with my pixel art.
i love how all the original ai generated pictures are just like ( ._.)
It's....... REALLY interesting seeing you interpret all the AI pixel art
They look really cool! At first the "chair one" looked for me like some gun turret from Team Fortress 2 haha
yoo ive had this idea a few days ago, awesome
This comment is to tell KZread that i do, in fact, want to watch these. Keep up the great work!
These are great!
Awesome!!
I find it interesting that we both saw completely different things in most of these designs, like the one you turned into a bird? I originally saw it as someone with flowing hair
Tbh most of them really look like they were designed rather by Toby Fox or Temmie Chang, it's those pokemon-like characters which have a certain item as their base turned into more humanized or bipedal pose
Lets goooooo uplooooad
I have also used crayon but have never thought to use it as references for my art cool idea

Thats very cool!
phenomenal little blue robot walker guy
tbh it was so smart making everything overly shaded it made it more true to the "original"
Please have this be a recurring series. Maybe different themes every session.
This is a fun one!
I love your art ❤😊
This is an awesome challenge, maybe it could become more then one video?
I have access to the DALL E 2 beta and it gets pixel art prompts a million times more accurate, I oughta try this
I love the design of the pink cute doggo
The AIs work is obviously not good but this can actually be a great way to quickly get ideas and also as a warm-up exercise
i need to see both versions of these sprites in a horror game
I would like an episide 2 of this
those sprites remind me of ones from old farming games on the snes...
I would try to do this exercise again with the "stable diffusion ai" but it sucks making an pixel art, BUT you could do the same prompt for cutesy characters in super deformed style, pen and ink line art and the save that picture and trace over it. This ai art thing is like crack cocaine it makes brainstorming so much easier.
The ai generated images are really handy for references
